would love to see this. if mitchell were to beat katsidis he would propel
Re: Mitchell v Katsidas part 2
katsidis has had the sh1t kicked out of him recently & wont be as tough as the last outing :!:
if rios is getting made it's pointless & if k-mitch wins a title it's a fight that sell's big & he can win.

Re: Mitchell v Katsidas part 2
Has Katsidis even got a title ? If not, can't see the point really, as it's a high risk fight for little gain. And Katsidis could well over power Mitchell again, as he's a bit open and Kat is strong as an ox and punches like a mule.
Still, not sure how many more beatings the bloke can take. Tough division as 135. Maybe Rios, sink or swim - be a hell of a fight, and maybe the wily Tibbs and a more exprienced Mitchell, might just come in with the prefect game plan. Big underdog though.

Re: Mitchell v Katsidas part 2
I think rios first if poss,Katsidis did a right number on him and even if better prepared it could all come flooding back and losing twice to katsidis would un do all his good work far too dangerous to go for that before a world title crack even after the hammering katsidis got at the hands of the ghost but would like to see it one day
Re: Mitchell v Katsidas part 2
If Katsidis is on the slide then Mitchell would have a good chance. If Katsidis isn't on the slide then it's the same result, although I doubt it comes as early. Katsidis and Murray are on two different levels, and beating Murray doesn't all of a sudden mean you will beat Katsidis. Mitchell will get knocked out if he fights Rios.

Well it'd be great, but it's not often a boxer gets revenge after a one sided beating like that.wesley05 wrote:Revenge my little friend ;;-)
If your 2nd shot goes wrong, it's a massive disaster. Recently Kermit Clinton tried it, and closer to home Carl Johansson. Must be devastating to the psych. So is it worth the risk? I don't think FW takes it, despite what he says.
Maybe best to just move on, like Khan did.

Re: Mitchell v Katsidas part 2
I don't think so, Mitchell exposed murray as a head down brawler, he beats katsldis easily next time round, I have followed kevins whole career, he's a class act who f**ked up, fingers crossed he gets his sh1t together a wins himself a title.wrimc wrote:I think even a beaten worn out sliding version of Katsidis beats the best version of Mitchell

What has Mitchell ever done to suggest that he would easily beat Katsidis?steve richards wrote:I don't think so, Mitchell exposed murray as a head down brawler, he beats katsldis easily next time round, I have followed kevins whole career, he's a class act who f**ked up, fingers crossed he gets his sh1t together a wins himself a title.wrimc wrote:I think even a beaten worn out sliding version of Katsidis beats the best version of Mitchell
Re: Mitchell v Katsidas part 2
Mitchell wouldnt win easy, but Katsidis got beat up by Guerrero and you'd have to think Mitchell would train exceptionally hard for the fight after what happened first time around, and when he does that, look what happens.
Re: Mitchell v Katsidas part 2
Mitchell got to get through his court case first!
Re: Mitchell v Katsidas part 2
It will be the same result. Ok he knocked out Murray fair play to the lad its a good win but its still some way off beating Katsidis who lets be honest is still only a contender himself so talk of a world title is a bit premature. Kevin was moving away in wide circles against Murray he wont be able to do that against Katsidis he will cut the ring off and batter him against the ropes. Mitchell doesn't have the power to keep Katsidis off or to trade with him. He will get bullied about again.iwz678 wrote:Mitchell wouldnt win easy, but Katsidis got beat up by Guerrero and you'd have to think Mitchell would train exceptionally hard for the fight after what happened first time around, and when he does that, look what happens.
Lets not get carried away here guys.
Re: Mitchell v Katsidas part 2
Guerrero is better than Mitchell and Katsidis is better than Murray. It's all about levels and this was evident when Katsidis smashed Mtchell in three rounds. I have no doubts that Mitchell could improve on his performance against Katsidis, but people are getting caught up again, just as they were after Mitchell beat Prescott.iwz678 wrote:Mitchell wouldnt win easy, but Katsidis got beat up by Guerrero and you'd have to think Mitchell would train exceptionally hard for the fight after what happened first time around, and when he does that, look what happens.

Re: Mitchell v Katsidas part 2
So essentially you are pinning your hopes of a Mitchell win on Katsidis being worn out and on the slide?
To be honest why would Katsidis want to rematch a fighter he destroyed in 3 rounds? It wasn't exactly a close fight and Mitchell is hardly a big name on the world stage. Katsidis can fight anyone given his pleasing style. Having said that, no doubt the Aussie would be willing to fight him again if the moolah is right.
If Katsidis turns up in shape and hasn't take too many punches then he would win again.
Guerrero did beat him up a bit but then again Guerrero would stand many a fighter on his head ( Mitchell included ) so no shame in that.
The excuses are rolling out for the Katsidis fight but it's tosh. It's all about levels. If Fury batters Chisora this weekend will we all start saying he would beat Haye etc? Of course not. Murray was not and has never been an elite level lightweight ( to be honest Katsidis is not exactly elite either, he loses to the elite guys ). Great a win as it was for Kevin, some perspective is required I reckon.
Mitchell has had his cheerleaders since his early am days so it's not unexpected but I don't think such talk helps him at all. He believed it all before the Katsidis fight and thats why I think that defeat hurt him so much.

Boxing is about levels yes as someone said, but Boxing is also about timing and Katsidis is on the way down in my opinion/yiddo14 wrote:So essentially you are pinning your hopes of a Mitchell win on Katsidis being worn out and on the slide?

Why would Katsidis want the fight? Money looks a very good answer for me. He's fighting at home next against a pretty average opponent and who does he have to fight at world level at lighweight, especially if rios goes up to light welter.
Katsidis would see it as a good payday against a guy he's beaten easily and he said he loves England, so I wouldnt rule that out down the line.
I actually think Mitchell will fight an Ignacio Mendoza type fighter next time out.
Re: Mitchell v Katsidas part 2
I hope not - I remember seeing Mitchell make Mendoza bounce off the canvas at Wembley on the back of the Prescott fight would like to think that allegedly delivers on his promise of "World Title shot to the winner"iwz678 wrote:

Re: Mitchell v Katsidas part 2
No offence fella, but it's this attitude that has contributed to the alphabet bodies carving up the titles and Sky having an approach whereby every fight must have a title, however meaningless. A good fight is a good fight, regardless of the belts. Mitchell v Katsidis fills most of the criteria of a good interest generating fight (rematch, both fighters just shy of genuine world class, one fighter looking for redemption, one fighter renowned as a warrior).MightyWarrior wrote:Has Katsidis even got a title ? I think earsjohn had it right over on the Current Scene -- Marquez's WBO title is being vacated, & Burns is going to have to fight someone tasty if he stays at superfeather.
=
Burns vs Mitchell, vacant WBO Lightweight title, 17/09/11, venue TBA.
Who was it who was saying the other day that the good old (bad old) days of the WBO title being a virtual Commonwealth/European level belt have gone forever?
