No such thing as semi pro!! Either pro or amatuer! Haven't got any time for it, it's unlicensed boxing, people who know nothing about boxing call it semi pro! Fair play to the White colla boys men who just wanna get in and give it a go but unlicensed is miss match heaven

Well i know plenty about boxing,semi pro/unlicensed whatever they want to call it...White coller i class as two average men of the street fancy a bout ie office lads etc,i could be wrong...

IBA is a semi pro organisation from essex/east London..they have a few good lads who havnt turned pro&a few pros who might do well....If you can sell tickets ud prob make better cash on there shows....Some good names are turning to them now...A lad who i boxed as a junior who won national titles as a youth is there currant middleweight champion i beleive...Stevie Martin!! he cant be botherd to train like a pro,but make great £££ doing that...

He used to box out of Colchester ABC,never boxed as a senior in the Ams but was a very good schoolboy/junior..its defo him who is there middleweight champ(his sister boxed pro for a while Shanee Martin)

Yer that's him, he also has a brother called Kirk, believe it or not he use to go dance classes as a young kid before he started boxing, I never realised he was that good an amateur, it says on the iba website former amateur sensation and ex aba champion, unless they mean junior aba champ. Who did you box for Tommy ? Your no relation to Jamie gunn who boxed with me at canvey abc are you ?

Steves younger brother callum Is the real fighting brother! Callum is 16 only started boxing a few months ago, and hes technique is class! He got a big engine to go with it! I expect big things from him in a couple of years.

while i cant vouch for the iba it does annoy me reading all this mismatch crap every time unlicensed/semi pro/white collar boxing is mentioned , the people mentioning this either have had a bad experience from a show theyve seen or no experience at all imo , think about it , why are white collar shows selling out , all over the country week in week out , when the pro shows struggle unless its a big fight thats been well covered in the national media , the reason is that there competitive fights a lot more so than in the pros , if this wasnt the case the white collar scene would be dead within 6 months , nobody wants to pay to go to a nightclub and watch a missmatch , ok the fighter and promotor may line their pockets by doing so , but people would wise up and not bother wasting their money in future meaning the promotor would be fvcked long term, he therfor has to entertain his customers , how does he do that , by not doing a show full of mismatches .

A promotors job is to get his guy the win but to entertain the crowd so this is where a bit of skill in matchmaking is needed , this creates longterm gain rather than getting a quick buck , i dont mind only making a marginal profit on a show or even a loss at times if it means long term ive got someone know by winning a really good fight , its a risk that can backfire but its easy enough to come again .

an example to go against all you guys saying people just give their lads an easy win can be seen in my next show in nottingham on 25th september , ive got a 3(2)-0-0 heavyweight , ive matched him in his next fight against billy besseys heavyweight who has won 15 lost 3 , does that sound like im giving my guy an easy ride ? i dont think so , likewise ive another heavyweight whos 1-0 , yet ive matched him his next fight against someone whos 5(3)-1-0
they are just 2 examples from my next show that i can think of off the top of my head , i also know theres 2 or 3 lads from this forum who will be attending who will also be able to say the fights were evenly matched .

youve possibly also seen a video on here that was of one of my fighters gaining a bit of a lucky decision to win on points when he maybe should have lost but again proof that i dont missmatch .

of course sometimes a first round ko might occur , that can make it seem like it may have been a missmatch , but its not always the case , likewise when you do see one sided missmatch blowouts on youtube etc your probably watching something that is meant to make someone look good , for promotional purposes , so it could be one of these dodgy blowouts , or maybe a bit of an actual missmatch , but if it was a close bout youll probably realise most people switch the fight off as those looking on youtube are looking for ko's

Damian ive been to 3 IBA shows and i can tel u that ive nether seen a fair fight out of all the fights ive seen. The nightclub is always ramo but i think its more down to pissed up geezers wantin to see someone get knocked out more then men wanting to see a good fair fight.
Thats why i like what your doin with your shows. I will be up notts at your next show.

someone at the gym told me about a kid on one of the iba shows, he says to me "xxxx has just wont he european title at boxing" so i say i had never heard of xxxx. turns out he won this "title" on one of the IBA shows...then you get numb nuts and his ilk at the gym who go around thinking their mate is the european champ

Tell you what, I had 50 fights on the iba shows , during my time I came across lee purdy, tom glover, Leo o'reilly, Matt Leonard,roger brotherhood, & a couple of other known fighters. I had some great, well matched tear_ups. While there were mostly bad fights, every show had a cracking fight. A lively crowd. & not many boring ones. I met some fantastic blokes, some faces. Without the iba , I wouldn't be the man I am today.

Johnny i know roger brotherhood mate , never seen him box though , was he any good ?

edit : just checked his record on here won 5 lost 2 , i guess he wasnt great then being one of the 5 boxers who got stopped by carl allen . to be fair to roger though Carl allen went 4-4-1 after that win so was when he was still competitive .

I went to my first MMA/KICKBOXING/BOXING, whatever the other night and enjoyed it. 17 fights on the bill and a good atmosphere. I only went because a friend was fighting, and i am not an MMA fan, but was suprised how much they let go in these events. The ref might as well as not have been there. Some of it was brutal. But the crowd loved it....

Seems so, the MBC that he thought was taking over British boxing has fucked off already, replaced by the BIBA, who have set off on the same path as their illustrious predecessors, licensing Ryan Evans, who was previously forced to retire due to a degenerative eye condition.
