I agree Ian. The guy's ranked and has never been stopped. Awesome performance by Kell.Old bones Ian wrote:Not Eddies fault, Jackiewicz has been competitive against a title holder. Very premature stoppage, but there was only one way that was going!! Brook's totally changed my opinion of him tonight he really did look world class, very impressive performance
Re: tonights R by R
RJ was clearly defending himselff. Most of those shots were not landing.

I would like to point out that my Boxing Monthly to discuss thing was 'Are fights stopped in the UK to soon?'

AT the end of the day, the other guy barely landed a punch. How many more punches do you lot want him to take? Do you always want to see someone on the floor in the recovery position?
Re: tonights R by R
The key not to be stopped when Foster is the ref
1. Be British
2. Don't cover up for more than 5 seconds

Re: tonights R by R
RJ was absolutely fine. He was clear headed, steady legged, and he was blocking most of Brook's fflurrys. He showed no signs of being in serious danger.keithmoonhangover wrote:AT the end of the day, the other guy barely landed a punch. How many more punches do you lot want him to take? No, but Jackiewicz is a proven euro level fighter, so to stop him without the guy wobbling isn't correct.keithmoonhangover wrote:AT the end of the day, the other guy barely landed a punch. He was never in the fight and was totally outclassed.crusader wrote:RJ was absolutely fine. He was clear headed, steady legged, and he was blocking most of Brook's fflurrys. Re: tonights R by R
I think the fact that Sky are only showing repeated replays of a single slow motion right hand landed sums up that it was premature.
Re: tonights R by R
So should every one-sided fight be stopped in your opinion? Even when the losing fighter has shown NO signs of being in any sort of trouble?keithmoonhangover wrote:He was never in the fight and was totally outclassed.crusader wrote:RJ was absolutely fine. Exactly(leaving aside my own bitterness at losing money) there's no rule that says you stop a fight if it's boring.crusader wrote:RJ was absolutely fine. Then let him lose a UD unless he is stopped.

If someone is shipping unanswered punches (yes he blocked some, but didn't return any) then the ref is right to stop it.Old bones Ian wrote:No, but Jackiewicz is a proven euro level fighter, so to stop him without the guy wobbling isn't correct.keithmoonhangover wrote:AT the end of the day, the other guy barely landed a punch. If someone is blocking most of those punches and is not hurt then a stoppage is not warranted.keithmoonhangover wrote:If someone is shipping unanswered punches (yes he blocked some, but didn't return any) then the ref is right to stop it.Old bones Ian wrote:No, but Jackiewicz is a proven euro level fighter, so to stop him without the guy wobbling isn't correct.keithmoonhangover wrote:AT the end of the day, the other guy barely landed a punch. Re: tonights R by R
Your talking about 2 world class boxers, and don't come higher than you bullsh*t. Boxing is about hurting and KOing your opponent, if it was a 6 round prelim i could understand the ref stopping it. But this was 2 very experienced boxers who train and expect to be pushed to the limit. Early stoppage no doubt

THIS WAS NOT A JOURNEYMAN OPPONENT!
KELL DID WELL BUT IT WAS A NBAD STOPPAGE.
WAS FELIX TRINIDAD PULLED UT AGAINST WINKY WRIGHT? HE LOST EVERY DAMN ROUND!
