Bill the Bomb was obviously a fully paid up hard case but, to me, to battering someone for calling him 'mate' was just a horrible, despicable thing to do. I just can't admire or come to terms with someone with such a mentality.
Every town and village in the country has similar people. I was curious about the man as he'd been a touted boxer in his prime and apparently he still fought for money now (in his late 50's). He does seem to have been a bully and horrible to people who aren't in his league; (I read the book 'Judas Pig' and apparently he didn't do so well when he upset the very nasty men in his neighbourhood).
