I'd say Holmes was at his Peak in about 1982. Frazier was over the hill in 1975, so I'll take Larry to skool Joe, whom I feel would ship a great of punishment in this one. Larry's jab would be in his face all night, like a Piston!

Larry was already showing signs of decline is 83. His lackluster performance against Witherspoon had him contemplating retirement.Rocky Balboa wrote:I'd say Holmes was at his Peak in about 1982. I don't remember '83 Holmes too well, as I had lost a considerable amount of interest in boxing at that time.
But '75 Frazier was in swift decline and I would reckon '83 Larry to win on points.
'75 Frazier would have to have some intense dislike for his opponent in order to mount a huge effort and as far as I know Larry and Joe were always okay with each other.

Holmes was a little past his prime - Frazier, a LOT past his.
Id favour Holmes.

83 Holmes may have slowed down some-what, but his skills had nowhere eroded as much as Frazier's in 1975, no way.ThatOne wrote:Larry was already showing signs of decline is 83. Frazier's vision was impaired going into every fight by then, & his last great performance was against Ali in Manilla. The fact it was Ali in the corner meant Frazier trained his arse off for the fight & got in the best shape he could possibly get in.

Well said. '75 Frazier got it up for Ali and gave a tremendous performance, but he was essentially a shell of the '69-'70 version.
