If the purse bids / negotiations go ok, then Prince Arron will get his chance for the vacant title.
Ryan remains the mandatory, so he should be the next in line although the EBU are notorious for allowing new Champs to slip a vacant defence in.
Taking all that into consideration and the time scales involved I don't think there's anything wrong with putting his name in the frame against K9.
K9 is struggling to find an opponent so the article is Ryan's way of making it clear he's available.
K9 is however very demanding financially but never say never.
We can argue all day long about a fighter's merits of getting a chance.
If it was a case of the most deserving getting, then in an ideal world we'd have one World title and the Champ would always fight the next in line.
Just go through the lists - it just doesn't happen that way.
Should Matthew Hatton get another chance ?
Should Matthew Macklin get another chance ?
Etc etc etc etc.
Of course they should - and we should all get behind them.
Just my take.

I was behind Ryan Rhodes going into the Alvarez fight but he fought with such a lack of desire that I don't fancy his chances even against K9.

Lack of desire??? fornicating hell he hardly got any chance to work as alvarez is very offensive and is always working and throwing blistering combinations u could tell he was waiting for his openings but Alvarez dont hardly take his foot of the gas and that night it defo wernt about desire just a great fighter overwhelmed, i think Alvarez is being very underated for his achievements so far he is a joy to watch

it's a fight that could happen no matter the result of their respective next fights.
