I just wasn't keen on watching what felt like an episode of eastenders in the studio.
I was out so recorded it listended to Bunce & lillis for few minutes then forwarded when they were on.

It is an odd one, when Setanta was in full swing - even when Premiersports were giving it a go also I really enjoyed the coverage of both channels. So I am sure people might be thinking how hypocritical of me to say I didn't enjoy the allegedly presentation.

Took me a while to think of why this is the case, but I think I have the answer (and this is merely just my opinion).

When Setanta was going, it always felt like an underdog to Sky's boxing empire. It was like the "people's channel". Using a Star Wars analogy - it was the rebellion against the empire. So, I didn't mind what the presentation was like aslong as they showed good fights, kept the competition and made Sky up its game. It worked on all fronts.

However, allegedly has been PR'd very very differently. Its been PR'd as the new home of boxing, with UK's number 1 promoter spareheading the channel, with big ties to Europe's number 1 promoter (Saurland) and arguably the worlds leading promotional company (Golden boy). Its been PR'd as "the new Empire" so to speak.... with that I would like to see slick "PPV esque" presentation.

I actually liked the little captions they had below the names. "Nearly there, getting closer to 4am" and all that.

I like Enzo Macarinelli in the studio. He speaks nicely, makes his points well and knows his stuff.

Steve Bunce is pure ego. He screeches for the sake of it. I'd much prefer Andy Kerr or someone along those lines.

Steve Lillis seems like a watered-down copy of Bunce. Again, there are much better people for the role.

The commentary team needs an overhaul. Put Bob Sheridan in there on his own and it would be better.

They definitely need to tighten up the quality. The image quality seems slightly cloudy to me, and not sharp or well graded. The production isn't slick enough for my liking and I think they need to be more creative in the way they present things.

I was delighted once the US Bill started that the Colonel was on commentary and thats saying something!!

I really think that for all their hype about the channel going to PPV they really should have put a more professional looking show together. I like Buncey but in small doses, his Boxing Hour where he can recap the weekends action and carry out interviews etc is a platform where his personality/style works. But by 3am after 5+ hours of him between the Helsinki and US Bills I was well and truly sick of him.

allegedly made a big point of signing Dempsey, Keys and Rosenthal why not have one of them anchor the bigger shows like the one we witnessed last weekend to give it a big event feel rather than the "feet on the table" Bunce approach.

Good point the DVE - that would be a good idea. Bunce / Lillis for these "gritty" York Hall esque Southern Area title fights (or the equivalent).

Rosenthal (or even Keys) for the World title fights and just with Macarinelli or Smith in the studio.

He was presenting for Setanta over here. I'm not subscribed anymore, so not sure if he still is. Surprised Sky didn't try snap him back up after the Keyes debacle. He is excellent and can cover a range of sports without looking like a tit.

I remember hearing a few years back that his wife was ill and he decided to permanently relocate to Ireland which is why Setanta was an ideal move for him at the time as their studios were based in Dublin. He was/is an excellent broadcaster and its strange that after being announced as a acquisition by allegedly (to my knowledge) he hasn't been used yet!?

It seems that all the broadcasts via satellite are being presented by Bunce and all on location shows small hall etc being fronted by Rosenthal/Keys. I guess the fact that the US feed has a lot of airtime between fights is why they have Bunce in this position as he will DEFINITELY fill it up and they have no confidence in Rosenthal and Keys having the sufficient knowledge of the Current scene to carry the show

Paul Dempsey was the sole commentator for the Premiersports feed of the Ayadin vs Dan Dan 2 fight.

I've heard that he is really not a fan of a the fight game, well he is very professional then. For me, his card for the main event fight was out (I had it far closer than what he had it) but I still thought he did a good job in commentating on the fight.

Of course being the commentator for Premiersports doesn't mean to say he is not signed up to the allegedly. Andy Kerr freelances on a number of channels, Rawling has been heard on Sky since the allegedly move, as had Woodhall and a number of other analyst. Perhaps he might need to work through some final few gigs on Setanta/Premier before being allowed to move.

I thought that was amazingly honest, and it cracked me up.

Ok, so the presentation is leaning on the casual side... but I personally prefer that to some of the more formal hyperbole you see occasionally on SKY and US shows.

Honest? OK, then I'm just really glad he didn't need a poo and felt the urge to inform millions about it
