Froch - Ward STAREDOWN

Ward got the upper hand in that face off, and I think they both appear to know it. froch is up against it here, there is more chance of ward stopping him than there is of froch winning on points imo. We will know after two rounds if froch sta.ds any chance of winning, I strongly sispect he will loose every round, but I hope he prpves me wrong.

Exactly right. I'm desperate for Froch to win, but think Ward's handspeed and under-rated strength will see him win a fairly clear-cut decision.

Ward reminds me a little of Cotto (maybe that's just me, have only seen him fight a couple of times). I reckon Froch out to look to use his reach, lot's of straight punches and try to be the busier. If he gets his distancing right I reckon he can control him behind the jab.

If Froch has a reach advantage it's a small one. Don't trust Boxrec's figures for that; they're often inaccurate. Add to that, Ward has faster hands than Froch.

What I'm getting at is him trying to rough up Ward isn't necessarily the right way to go about it. Ward's tasty on the inside and doesn't mind being dirty. On the other hand he doesn't move his head much so I think straight punching could reap rewards.

In all of Ward's decision wins at World title level he has been winning the fight by miles going into the 9th round. Froch should make it his aim to be in the fight going into these rounds and take Ward into deep water, much in the same way as it was with the Taylor fight. Obviously on the judges scorecards Froch was way down but the commentators and ringside pundits all had the Froch-Taylor fight close going to the end of the fight.

First time I've seen Ward in an interview. Came across really well; grounded and intelligent.

Here's hoping Frochy can do the job though.

yes. Froch needs to know when to take a 1/2 step backwards and catch Ward coming in. Up close its an asier fight for the headbutting style of Ward.

I dont agree with those who think Froch could bully Ward. I also think people are overating Carl's power. .

possibly, mate, but i think the real question is Froch's power in relation to Ward's chin, which is still untested. given the way he fights i don't think Ward himself is all that confident in his beard.

I heard from the yanks that ward got tagged as an am and went down like a sack of spuds from a not that hard punch. dont know if its true or not.
