I suppose at least the Welsh /Clev fans have the balls to admit it is a bad match up, if this were Bellew the rest of the forum would be bigging the lad up and justifying the match up.
Don't talk bollocks by bringing me into it! I've got nothing to do with it although I'd jump at this date and a rematch, I'm a better opponent than this Fanfara! I'm supposed to be the one coming off a loss and people are matching me tougher than there matching him! I'm asking for Gutchnekt! I'd learn nothing from flattening this unknown.. Clev will learn nothing from this either but hey that's up to them not me.. I hope it goes well for them all in Wales..
Wonder why they dont just do a rematch on this date? Wld love to see that fight again and so would thousands of others ....

If that was on terrrestial it would get fantastic figures, it wld be easy to sell as both Clev and Bomber are good guys who talk well and the fight itself guarantees both guys giving everything. Guys like these two top pros must surely wish they had access to real mainstream expsoure.

I was bringing the brown nose Bellew supporters into it not you, For what it is worth I would also much rather it be a rematch with you rather than this unknown.

Does the Top 15 rule apply for Interim titles, or can literally anyone be dug up for this defence?
Who knows I doubt it be anyone good. Why cant he fight Mitchell on this date I dont know least it would sell out the arena.

Does Burns actually have a world title at the moment?
Britain could end up having no world champs of any description at the end of the year (hope it goes Froch's way though)

there is absolutely no way cleverly can be considered a world champ

don't hate clev, not at all, but you can't call yourself a world champ after being handed a belt and not following it up with no.1 contender defences.

No surprise mate be honest, they run him down prior to him beating their golden boy ( not allowed to mention names  ) I have gone on the record as saying the opponent is/was poor and I hope he does fight worthy opponents going forward.

I wonder if you apply the same levels to Adrien Broner or Saul Alvarez or Tavoris Cloud?
Cleverly is young and has some decent wins in a poor division. He wanted to defend in Wales, small venue, difficult time of year to sell a fight, he can keep busy and have a bigger fight in May so it doesn't clash with the Euros or Olympics.

With me, there's no hate for the man himself, just a lot of frustration at the procession of no marks that have been served up and sold as World Title challengers.

I'd say my hatred is 50% Warren, 50% Alphabet bodies.

Hmm - they're all different cases you quote.

Broner is fairly legit - he fought for a title vacated because the previous champion stepped up a weight (Ricky Burns).
Alvarez also fought for a vacant title, but did so against someone who'd never fought at the weight. He's since defended against legitimate challengers in Rhodes and Cintron.
Cloud won an eliminator to fight for his title and then beat Woods for the vacant belt. He's since beaten some worthy challengers and was due to face Erdei, so he seems fairly legit to me.

The problem with Cleverly was that he was awarded his title outside the ring and then defended it against a couple of Euro level challengers at best. By all means have a low profile fight, but don't BS the fans and pretend its a legit World Title fight when it's anything but.

But with the greatest of respects his last 3 fights have been agsinst 2 VERY late replacements and then a belter against Tony Bellew. There's no excuse about this opponent mind (thats if it is defo Fonfara that he'll be fighting as not confirmed yet) but i honestly think that unless Clevs next fight was against Cloud, Shumenov etc then he was always gonna to get slated on here. As i've said many times he's only 24 and is a work in progress and he'd tell you himself, he's got plenty to learn so why rush things??? :TU:
The fight with Bellew was exciting, but with all due respect to Tony, he didn't have the CV to be in the ring with a World Champion.

I guess its a balance thing - if you call yourself a world champion then prove it (now, not in a few fights time); if you're a work in progress then don't pretend that we should be tuning in to world title level fights. it's the way the fights are sold that gets on my wick.

I may be doing the guy a disservice but this record does not warrant a no2 ranking imo

I don't see much hate for Clev just the politics involved with him/modern day boxing.

That guy Fonfara looks decent level fighter but clearly not world class. Cleverly has fought and beat just above his class but no one really world title class although he has been due to but with no luck in pulling these fights off.

I think he got to his position of being a world title contender too quickly which seems to happen a lot at the moment so I can understand why his management and promotor would want him to have a few learning fights that can build up his record and fan base. People have to realise that most people who watch boxing are just looking for exciting fights most people don't look into or care too much about opponents records as long as Cleverly in this case is involved in an exciting fight where he becomes the winner, normally in a stoppage.

If this happens for a few fights in a row steadily building up the level of fighter he will become a big name worthy of holding a world title and then eventually fighting the best in the division. This tactic worked very well for Calazaghe although done it for far too long.

Don't talk bollocks by bringing me into it! I've got nothing to do with it although I'd jump at this date and a rematch, I'm a better opponent than this Fanfara! Clev will learn nothing from this either but hey that's up to them not me.. I hope it goes well for them all in Wales..
Tony the fight isn't even confirmed yet so you can't say you're being matched tougher than Nathan. Good to know you're asking for Gutchnekt but that doesn't mean Nathan has asked for Fonfara.

Who is he asking for and is he happy to be fighting this level of Fonfara? If not can he not ask for a better quality opponent?

I'd be surprised if Nathan is happy to be honest.

There's probably f**k all he can do about it mind.

An opponent with no notable wins and a KO loss two weights below and never having had a 12 round fight..... laughable really, as are the WBO rankings generally at 175.

All you guys keep saying Calzaghe fought the same type of oposistion at the same stage in his career as Cleverly is now... need to go check,...thats unless you class the likes of Andrzej Fonfara the same as world title holders Eubank,Reid etc
