Even some casual boxing fans don't really know who he is.
It would make a mockery of the award should he win it.

Re: Can Carl froch win sports personality of the year. . . . .
He hasnt got a personality thats the main problem not very marketable.

When has it ever really been about "personality" ?Spiker wrote:He hasnt got a personality thats the main problem not very marketable.
Didn't Ryan giggs win it last year ?
Re: Can Carl froch win sports personality of the year. . . . .
I think he comes across well and is quite marketable. Anyway, since when has Sports Personality of the Year actually been about personality? The blandest person in the world can win it if they achieve enoughSpiker wrote:He hasnt got a personality thats the main problem not very marketable.
Re: Can Carl froch win sports personality of the year. . . . .
Who gives a toss about an award from a channel that barely has any viewers anymore and don't even show boxing?
It was disgusting when Hatton & Calzaghe did well there other year, when neither had appeared on the channel ever !
They had that buck tooth horse rider win the other year.

As he's not one of the 10 nominees, no he can't win it.
Re: Can Carl froch win sports personality of the year. . . . .
the problem is the word "personality" He doesn't meet the essential criteria

Should he win, then he could be in the nominees NEXT YEAR - although at 2012 is an Olympic year, probably got a snowballs chance in winning it.
Re: Can Carl froch win sports personality of the year. . . . .
ALOT of my mates have backed him at 1000/1 e/w top 3.
Great bet if he wins tonight

Foolish bet - he aint in the top ten.... only members in the top 10 can win it. Unless you mean for 2012.JDC wrote:ALOT of my mates have backed him at 1000/1 e/w top 3.

I think at odds of 1000/1 - it was probably when the bookies were tipped of the top 10 but not official. Something similar happend to Paul Scholes - who was among the favourites and then moved to massive odds.

Never in a million years, the general public don't know who he is and it's them that vote,i speak to people who have a bit of an interest in boxing who have only seen him fight years ago when he was on the BBC

What is expensive about the show? I think it should be a pretty cheap show to make.MachoMan09 wrote:I'd love to know how much it costs the BBC to put on Sports Personality of the Year. No doubt a small fortune and it's shit. Why not sack it off and plough the money into actually airing live sport?

He does not grab the attention of Fury, Khan or even Harrison because he is not mouthy or cocky enough.dondada wrote:Couldn't disagree more.Spiker wrote:He hasnt got a personality thats the main problem not very marketable.
A lot of people hate the cockiness but it also attracts the attention too.
If he wins tonight and he starts putting himself about and talking himself up then yes.
At the moment his personality isnt big (not necessarily a bad thing) but he would need to get more people noticing him rather than just Nottingham and the hard core boxing fans.

I bet Lineker don't come cheap. He's got a tan to maintain, you know.Horse wrote:What is expensive about the show? They should get someone else then. Plenty of people would do the job for free.greenyox3 wrote:I bet Lineker don't come cheap. He's got a tan to maintain, you know.
The BBC should do everything on the cheap to save the taxpayer money.
