When I heard this story I am not really surprised by Tyson Fury's decision to vacate the titles, and perhaps it may put the rivalry on ice for a while until there are much bigger stakes on the table as I still feel that this is a fight that could potentially happening further down the road, but it is a shame that it is not going to happen this year. As for Fury he is great fun to watch with his exciting crowd pleasing style and terrific backstory and personality that makes him a marketable attraction and Price has a terrific amateur background and gets better each fight he is involved in and it is a shame that Price will not get his chance against Fury at least for now.

2) Mick is clearly (and quite rightly) very keen to maintain Fury's momentum on C5 and personally i'd love to see this type of fight routinely taking place on terrestial TV. If Audley v Danny Williams got 8m God knows what this fight could do with the right promotion and the right title on the line ...

3) Richard Towers is not boxing Fury, i believe he is boxing the German champion who i believe is unbeaten with a high KO percentage - the fight is for the EU title ... the German's name has slipped my mind but i can get it if people want it!

So you think Hennessy should be given the rights to every big fight because C5 will stick it on?

I'd rather a Tesco than the friendly convenience store owners who hike up the prices every time a budget is announced or there's a few headlines about a financial dip. My local store owner is 10-15p above most RRPs, the goods are often out of date and the chocolate is allowed to melt in the summer then harden again and it creates a terrible texture.

:TU:

Ah, but he calls you mate and asks how your days been. Never bought into the 'supermarkets are driving local shop owners to closure' argument. If there were no Tesco's about we would all be getting ripped off big style but friendly corner shop owners.

What do you reckon Tesco are going to do in a few years when all the local shops have closed ? .................

Tesco buy their products in such quantities that they "negotiate" lower prices from their suppliers (who then suffer financially, having the knock on effect of not being able / willing (?) to pay their employees a better rate which then has the knock on effect that they do not have the disposable income to spend on goods and services .... it is a self fulfilling prophecy - we are all doomed and Tesco will continue to make £millions profit)

Why did Tyson Fury vacate the British and Commonwealth titles?

He's running from David Price!

Hennessy have lost loads of fighters lately, the Channel 5 deal is important to them, they can't risk that, there are safer ways to manage the money. Boxing is a business.

I refuse to buy Sky just to pay again to watch boxing. Because that would be the ONLY reason I'd buy it.

On the way to the gym a little while ago I tried to buy a bottle of water from a small grocers. The rude Polish old lady looked at my fiver (it was a bit dirty) and went "your money is very old, brother. My customers..." then basically threw it back at me like I was trying to mug her off.

I went into the ultra evil capitalist BP garage next door and the geezer took my manky fiver no problem.

Just to clarify, on March 24 Richard Towers will be fighting for the EBU-EU (European Union) title, not the EBU (European) title.

According to ARD last Saturday, Dimitrenko and Pulev will be fighting on March 31 for the EBU HW title.

So will Towers opponent be Edmund Gerber? I see Edmund is scheduled for the Povetkin-Huck card.

Thanks, Larry.

Michael Wallisch (8-0, age 26) has some decent boxing skills and seems physically fit. I enjoyed his fight with Yakup Saglam, who was 27-0 at the time. But Saglam had a very padded record, so Wallisch may be in for a more difficult fight with Towers.

what a surprise
Local stores are not socialist enterprises. Actually, my local shopkeeper hikes up prices then retreats to the suburbs every night with the rest of the lower middle class yobbos, maybe she is a socialist. Grow up or stick to discussing heavies.

i might have guessed your response would be a bovine semi-autistic example of the price of baked beans.

Your figures arnt far off, here is the barb figures for the week ending 13/11/11

The programme audience is the average audience of all the minutes covered by the programme transmission (excluding commercial breaks and promotions).

Millions
1 BIG BROTHER (FRI 2103) 2.20
2 THE MENTALIST (THU 2201) 2.13
3 BIG BROTHER (THU 2100) 1.89
4 CSI MIAMI (TUE 2102) 1.83
5 FILM: HANG 'EM HIGH (SUN 2157) 1.77
6 LIVE BOXING: TYSON FURY... (SAT 2145) 1.72

Fury hasnt even got the lonsdale belt for keeps yet, so why on earth would he vacate the titles unless he knew he was going to be beat.

People will have different opinions, but surely everyone would agree that price would demolish fury, and also surely people realise that fury is actually a terrible boxer.

Im gonna stick my neck out here and say that scott quigg will also vacate the british title whenever frampton is made mandatory.

althought frampton isnt quite the full package yet, quigg looked very vunerable against arthur.
