You are actually defeating your own argument mate !markfightoptions wrote:
1.72 million viewers for live domestic level boxing is pretty huge, to put it into perspective, man city vs liverpool on sky sports 1 got 1.68 million
What you are saying is that when boxing is on Channel 5 (which to be honest, hardly anyone watches unless Big Brother is on) then it still gets more viewers than a football match between 2 of the biggest teams in the country (and this is for British level fights - and a novice first fight (Eubank Jnr)) !
At the end of the day, when it comes to boxing :
allegedly = tens of thousands of viewers (tops)
Sky = hundreds of thousands of viewers (for World title - eg. Cleverley)
Terrestrial TV (even channel 5) = millions of viewers (for domestic fight, plus on novice debut (Eubank Jnr))
Now, irrespective of the exact actual figures, whether they are peak statistics or average viewing statistics or whatever - I believe that the above represents a reasonable representation.
