Johanneson. Goodwin has not fought anywhere near this level before. Its massive step up considering he's only fought journeymen with losing records before.

I'll do something on Carl nearer the time.
Rumour has it that this fight could be for the English title.

Wont be English title, Derry Mathews is the current holder and wants to be going into the Crolla fight as the English champion afaik.

Yep..will be an official eliminator for the British title!!
Big night!!! Goodwin wins on points....

Re: Chris Goodwin v Carl Johanneson
Massive step up for Goodwin who is a fully paid up member of the 'padded record' club. If Johanssen has anything left then I can see a KO win for him unless Goodwin steps up big style.

Re: Chris Goodwin v Carl Johanneson
Have to agree that its a massive step up, theres no trash talking or bigging it up from the Goodwin camp on this one, they fully respect Johanneson and are approaching this contest with that in mind, however Chris' progression over the last number of months has led to these cross-roads and its time for a test.TheCobra wrote:Massive step up for Goodwin who is a fully paid up member of the 'padded record' club. If ive done my homework correctly then this is a good fight and at the right time, Johanneson is by no means finished but is definitely on the slide, Chris is on the climb and i think will have the skills and stamina to push out a decisive points victory. Johanneson is gonna try and knock him out for about 6 rounds then gas out in my opinion, but we will find out in 3 weeks.

Re: Chris Goodwin v Carl Johanneson
Though we are never going to proclaim that Chris has fought anyone even remotely near the brilliant Johanneson, I would like to say that Geoffrey Munika had come off a stoppage win over Ryan Barrett (who is doing well at the moment). That was a decent fight and a step up in class.
Chris had had some of the best sparring in the country and is getting very good reviews.
There are a great number of those who have seen him in this sparring who are backing him 100% to do the business.
We will see what happens on March 3rd...but we think something special could happen!

Re: Chris Goodwin v Carl Johanneson
The thing that would worry me the most if I was in Goodwin's camp is that he hasn't got a single KO, even though he's only been fighting journeymen. You need a certain amount of power to keep off a big puncher like Carl. I think Carl showed enough in the Sykes fight to show he still has something to give and isn't shot yet, so it's a very dangerous fight for Goodwin.markfightoptions wrote:Have to agree that its a massive step up, theres no trash talking or bigging it up from the Goodwin camp on this one, they fully respect Johanneson and are approaching this contest with that in mind, however Chris' progression over the last number of months has led to these cross-roads and its time for a test.TheCobra wrote:Massive step up for Goodwin who is a fully paid up member of the 'padded record' club. The guys Chris has fought don't really get stopped...we could easily have got some bum over from Eastern Europe to pad the record...we didn't..He isn't feather fisted
On the flipside Chris isn't really a bomber, that's true. His power is coming on though...

To be honest i think if Johanneson is gonna win by stoppage its gonna be early, rounds 1-3.smoggy7188 wrote:Johanneson to win by late stoppage. Its all about levels.
Chris will either take Johannesons punches or he wont, i think if he gets past the first 4-5 he takes it on points.

I applaud him for taking it, you've got to find out whether he can go at it with the big boys or whether he has found his level on the small hall scene. Im guessing they think Carl is on the slide and it looks like a good name on Chris's record however the Sykes fight showed Carl has a good few years in him yet.

I think this is the biggest crossraods fight of the year so far. Goodwin is getting very good reviews, yet Johaneson, though not what he was is a championship level fighter, end of!

Fight Options must remember to put the young fighters in with Floyd Mayweather, just like every other promoter does!!
I'm sure Goodwin-Johanneson is better than most TV headliners to be fair

Since the cat is now out of the bag, may as well capitalise on it.
See the last paragraph.
Chris got interviewed by sky last week, so should make an appearance on ringside tomorrow night
