Re: USA National championships
I bought the live stream, and honestly...there was always a problem. Either ring 1 & 3 were down or it wasn't "live" but would be added to the archives hours later. The fights will be available soon enough on line...too many ppl recording.

Russell vs. Williams was very close but there was a period when Williams was working just a little more. I was hoping he would get it too.
The fights are all still up as far as I know for a year. They won't be able to be posted online without getting flagged. You better grab it quick if you find one. I still have all my Olympic trial footage that maybe they will let me put up one day.

I just watched a few of the fights again, and I must say Wesley Ferrer from NY really impressed me. He took out Samajay Thomas which was totally unexpected. He lost to Julien Rodriguez, but he held his own with one of the best JO's.

"Jose Monty Flores: Just make sure the judges are not corrupt so the winner can represent our country at the Olympics. We need good fighters to represent our country and not hooked up champs like the set up fights they have in southern California. If the champ looses , hand the trophy to the fighter who deserves to win. This will ensure real champs in the amateur division and not hooked up champs that know the judges and the referees. We need to stop corrupt matches to produce real champs who become champions in their professional career . Stop the corruption in USA boxing so the kids who deserve to win can represent the united states against cuba's team. Don't send fake champs so boxing will be back to where it was, back in the Ali, Ray & Tyson days when USA sent the true champions and got the gold medal ."

Julian should have won that final fight. I could see why they gave it to Jamel Herring....2 time Iraq vet, last years champ, US Marine......how can u explain to everyone that he lost to a 17yr old junior in highschool. I saw the fight....it was close...but Julian in my opinion out boxed him ....and had more stamina as Jamel took a knee in the 3rd to gain his breath. ....good luck to Jamel tho.

I would love to invite everyone to watch the final bout between Julian Rodriguez and Jamel Herring and give me your own opinion if there was curruption involved....the entire gym was booing at the decision....made me sick to see how the judges took the fight away from Julian.

Re: USA National championships
I watched hours of the fights all week and even though it was from a limited angle--that was the one bout that I heard boo'd so loudly in all of my viewing. I could see how judges had it close after the first two. I personally thought J was ahead. Now as far as that 3rd round goes---I said to myself "Ok, it comes down to this round since they know it's tied, let's see who wants it more..." With that being said, I thought Julian clearly pulled away in that last round and landed cleaner and more effective (scoring) blows. I thought he also outworked Jamel just in case it came down to 2nd level tiebreaker which there were a few during the week. Julian definitely gave 110% in that last round and he can hold his head up. That's how I saw it. I agreed with the crowd too. Big things ahead for this young man.Juliansfan wrote:I would love to invite everyone to watch the final bout between Julian Rodriguez and Jamel Herring and give me your own opinion if there was curruption involved....the entire gym was booing at the decision....made me sick to see how the judges took the fight away from Julian.

Re: USA National championships
Ok, after so many posts in regards to Rodriguez vs. Herring, I had no other choice but to go back and re watch it in sloooowwww motion (as one person suggests, the only ONE person who says Herring one clear) and quite honestly after viewing it again....JULIEN RODRIGUEZ WON and GOT ROBBED. They gave Herring 8 points in the 3rd, LAUGH OUT LOUD, he didnt even throw 8 punches!!! Not to keep dwelling on the matter, what's done is done...but what a charade, they knew what the outcome was going to be even b4 the fight started. What a shame USA Boxing, what a shame to get these kids' hopes up and waste time and money. And yes, maybe Julien is only a 17yr old high school kid who can try out for the Olympics in another 4years, but that's not the point. What about the US Team? OK so bc Herring is a great guy, soldier, father...etc, let's GIVE him the opportunity to represent the USA Team...and where does that leave us....with a worse team than 4 years ago?
THE FIGHT WASN'T EVEN CLOSE!

Re: USA National championships
Jamel, you won and that SHOULD be what matters to you the most. All the discussion comes with the territory in this sport because there will always be differences of opinions. That's why I love this forum because normally you get very good information and you can discuss results, training, etc. Sometimes unfortunately, some of your supporters and detractors get off topic. I thought the bout but close but that Julian did enough in the 3rd to win. Doesn't really matter what I think though. I have met both of you and you are both really good ambassadors of the sport. When you win, you do it well. When you lose, you do it well. And the great thing about boxing is you don't have to talk a lot OUTSIDE of the ring because what you do inside is what matters. I'm glad that you aren't concerned about us fans' opinions --- now that you have won (twice), I wish you all the luck in Brazil so that you can get to London. That is the only thing that matters now. I do think there are some judges who lean one way or another but that may not be always personal or purposeful. I think that different parts of the country have different styles and that some judges score styles that they are used to more liberally than styles that they don't see. I still here from judges at tournaments arguing about scoring of body shots like its' optional. Not saying that this happened in any particular bout in the reloads but it does happen. I am one to not complain when my boxers lose either because once it's done, it's done. It serves as a learning tool to look at what you can improve on. Again, good luck.Jamel wrote:people are giving this more attention then the Khan-Peterson fight. Everyone's entitled to their opinion honestly and there's nothing wrong with that but for people to bring in what I've done for the country as a United States Marine and my kids in the mix on why the judges would "favor" me is ridiculous. For some to say that the judges, officials, and staff had this picked from the start is crazy also because if that was the case Jesse Hart would of won that tiebreaker considering he was one of my fellow USA teammates who won the Olympic Trials as well and has WAY more crenditals then me but somehow I guess in some of y'all eyes my bout happened to be the only one that was favored. I didn't see any of the judges favor my boys Louie Bryd or Shawn Simpson, not saying that Santos isn't a good champion at 108 who is also a good friend of mine but for the ones who were at the tournament seen that Louie lost a CLOSE decision to a man who wasn't highly known but was the better fighter that night. It's whatever though I'm not stressing the matter at all so I'll take my teams advice and just continue to remain humble on the topic.

Re: USA National championships
Jamel:
That shows how much you care about making the Olympic team that u compare it to Kahn-Peterson, bc making the Olympic team is every 4 yrs...Kahn-Peterson is already scheduled for a rematch. You mention the Jesse Hart fight: he didn't deserve to win, all they did was hold each other...the one who worked the hardest in that bout was the Ref. Not to be getting on you Jamel, but the ones who dropped the ball here is USA Boxing because we are sending a 141lb champion that lost to two JO's in the same week. (Javontay Clark and Julien Rodriguez) and let's not forget how you got on the scene when you got a gift against Pedro Sosa (first fight)
Everyone that was "SUPPOSSED" to win, won..with the exception of Hart and I already gave my opinion on why that went down the way it did.
But good luck in Brazil, over there you cant run and they will not count your slaps as points.
