The new ratings system is a points-based system which basic and simple to understand. Fighters are awarded a certain number of points based on what they have achieved this season. Fighters win points and the points stack up during the season.
Below is the schematic for it:
5 pts - winning a title (WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO) - not in operation until Week 6
4 pts - successful World title defence (WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF) - since they are fighting top 10 guys - not in operation until Week 7
3 pts - a win against a managed fighter.
2 pts - a win against a CPU opponent.
1 pt - a draw
0 pts - a loss
So basically, it's an accumalator - fighters pick the points up as the weeks progress.
(We'll just try it out for the first 10 weeks, then if it doesn't take off, we'll revert back to the Title Bout rankings)
The good thing about this system is that it's clean-cut and easy to understand. And it will make it easy structure the rankings for the World title eliminators which will be coming up in Week 6.
Thanks for your time, and I wish you all a successful season.
