Oceania Boxing Games AIS
Oceania Boxing Games AIS
Hey guys,Oceania games start today for last chance for boxers to qualify for London Olympics. If anyone from OZ that could find a link for fights or the draw would be great.I predict 2 boxers from NZ to qualify and NZ based super heavy Junior FA to qualify for Tonga.
Re: Oceania Boxing Games AIS
Hey Colin out of interest which Kiwi boys you predicting to qualify? And picking Fa over Parker then?
Its a Shame Sam Rapira cant qualify via the Oceanias!

Re: Oceania Boxing Games AIS
So Parker's back from Beijing and fighting in the World Series of Boxing. CJ Scott I found a free link for the football qualifiers down in Taupo, not quite the same but I'm still looking.
Re: Oceania Boxing Games AIS
Hey Craig,if Fa and Parker meet i am picking Fa,IMO Fa has had the better prepartion, throws alot more punchs and i ???? Parkers fitness over 3 rds.If i had to choose 2 boys to qualify it would be Joe Blackbourn and Harry Scaife.Real shame for Sam but there was a qualifying process for Oylmpics and Hopper got spot.I still think there should of been 81kg fights though for Oceania.
Re: Oceania Boxing Games AIS
I'd agree re fa vs Parker mate, exactly what comp has Parker had lately
Compared to fa?
Would love to see those kiwi boys go through.

Anyone know why Hugo Fata isnt representing Samoa at the Qualifirers at 75kgs seen him box at the Commonwealths in India the kid looked a special talent but havent heard anything bout him since .
Re: Oceania Boxing Games AIS
I have no idea why, but the Samoa amateur team will be here in Australia this weekend. My uncle is one of the trainers. Hugo has talent, and would like to see him fight again.moorser wrote:Anyone know why Hugo Fata isnt representing Samoa at the Qualifirers at 75kgs seen him box at the Commonwealths in India the kid looked a special talent but havent heard anything bout him since .

Re: Oceania Boxing Games AIS
Australia looks like being represented in all divisions.

Re: Oceania Boxing Games AIS
The English "experts" are already whinging about Australia being over represented.
Re: Oceania Boxing Games AIS
They have a point. The Oceania qualifier features a much smaller talent pool than the qualifiers held for boxers from Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
Re: Oceania Boxing Games AIS
How would you do it? Send fighters who lost in the qualifiers?
Re: Oceania Boxing Games AIS
Yep, we have to send in the best there is, meaning the fighters who have won.
Thats all there is to it.

Re: Oceania Boxing Games AIS
Tim Cahill plays Soccer.
Light heavyweight Damien Hooper is supposed to be our best chance.

Re: Oceania Boxing Games AIS
Youre talking about Australia/Samoan southpaw Jai Opetaia.
I dont know who he is related to, but the kid can box, i last seen him fight when he was only 68kgs. We fought on the same night during last years state titles in Feb at Brighton, but i didnt get to see him fight because i was warming up in the change rooms as i was on straight after he was. He was fighting at 81kgs that night.
He also won the Junior World title in Kazakhstan July last year.
Both Mundine and Green hand picked this kid for sparring when he was only 15 years old.
