Groves sinner or saint
I like George and i think he can
win his up coming world title challenge.
That said i think the fight is winnable more so
because of flaws in his opponent though Groves
will need to dominate .
Nice as it will be to have another British
world champ it will always be said he ducked
out of the fight he needed to have but never really
fancied.
Kenny Anderson would have as much chance of winning
that world title as groves IMO and the fact he has been denied
his chance to avenge his loss will undermine groves standing with
genuine fans regardless of his achivements .

Re: Groves sinner or saint
Stieglitz would beat Anderson. He has shown nothing to suggest he would stand as much chance of beating him as Groves.
This Groves-Anderson thing really isn't like Hatton- Witter, Khan-Brook etc. The so called pretenders in them cases had showcased their considerable talents and beat fighters of note. Anderson is living off a few good rounds against an underperfoming Groves who rallied to stop Kenny and who has improved considerably since.
I think Smith would beat Anderson.

I dont see how people can call for Groves to fight Kenny if he wins the world title then complain when Cleverley fights Karpency and Krasniqi. Kenny needs to do a number on Smith then beat another decent fighter then maybe fight Groves. Groves will fight Abraham cos I reckon Booth thinks George can do a Froch and outbox Abraham like the DeGale fight.

Surely he cant get a straight shot if Groves wins the title?I was quite shocked when i looked on his record at how poor his opponents have been to date..smoggy7188 wrote:I dont see how people can call for Groves to fight Kenny if he wins the world title then complain when Cleverley fights Karpency and Krasniqi. regardless of records groves agreed to the fight and therefore the least he
should do having swerved the rematch is offer him 1st crack .
Re: Groves sinner or saint
Nah mate,i think you forget that Groves won the first fight by stoppage so the rematch wasn`t a fight he needed to have despite Andersons propagnda. It would of been a sideways step at best, now he gets a world title fight.Anderson needs to beat some half decent fighters before he would deserve to be near a World title fight, his best win at the moment is Mendy who has just lost to a light middleweight.TJ77 wrote:I like George and i think he can

Re: Groves sinner or saint
Anderson was a mandatory defence so had to fight him or give up the belts or take a world title fight, I know which of those three options the majority of boxers would pick.

Re: Groves sinner or saint
He didn't swerve him. He got a better offer to fight a better fighter in a much bigger fight.
I guess he could always fight him in a non title bout if he wanted to beat him again. I cannot see the WBO sanctioning Anderson as an opponent. This is of course presuming Groves beats Stieglitz which is no certainty.
If Groves wins I imagine Anderson won't feature on his radar at all. He would have moved on ( he had already moved on to bigger things ) considerably.

Re: Groves sinner or saint
If Groves loses then an Anderson fight makes sense.
Re: Groves sinner or saint
@ smoggy your right and im not digging.groves out for
choosing the better fight just think its all gone under the rug
because we have had 3 failed attempts and now there is a chance
we will nick another title.no one wants to recognise an injustice

3 failed attempts at what?
Re: Groves sinner or saint
He` s ditched the rematch for a tougher fight for a world title hardly a duck is it.Anderson has been fucked over but he hadn`t done mutch to be made mandatory anyway, like somebody has already said he is living of a couple of good rounds. If Groves wins,Anderson should be happy with fighting for a vacant British title in a winable fight against someone like Smith.TJ77 wrote:Fact remains they were meant to settle it and it hasnt happenedTommy Gunn13 wrote:Surely he cant get a straight shot if Groves wins the title?I was quite shocked when i looked on his record at how poor his opponents have been to date..smoggy7188 wrote:I dont see how people can call for Groves to fight Kenny if he wins the world title then complain when Cleverley fights Karpency and Krasniqi. If Groves wins he will be on a totally differant level to Anderson&i doubt he will give him a second thought..TJ77 wrote:Fact remains they were meant to settle it and it hasnt happenedTommy Gunn13 wrote:Surely he cant get a straight shot if Groves wins the title?I was quite shocked when i looked on his record at how poor his opponents have been to date..smoggy7188 wrote:I dont see how people can call for Groves to fight Kenny if he wins the world title then complain when Cleverley fights Karpency and Krasniqi. Re: Groves sinner or saint
Feel sorry for Anderson.
Haye, according to his confident and 'biographer' looked shit in prep for initial Wladi fight (summer 09) and pulled out with a back problem.
Groves gets a chance to fight for a world title and pulls out of a tricky fight against a man who gave him all he could handle in their first encounter with, you guessed it, a back problem.
Booth is no genius but played it well both times, back injuries are very hard to substantiate or should I say dispute.
Poor Anderson he deserves a shot should Groves win.

Re: Groves sinner or saint
He should give up the Commonwealth title and let Anderson/Smith fight for it so if he looses the Stieglitz fight then he can fight the winner of that.
Re: Groves sinner or saint
No way does Anderson deserve a world title shot. Anderson needs to do what Groves has done to get a shot, i.e beat the best that Britain has to offer at domestic level. Anderson has beat a load of nobodies so far.
He is very, very overrated on here.
