McCallum fought in the UK a few times but never at the York Hall. Neither did Hamed.

Ryan's fought there 3 times in his career.
His first fight there was 16 years ago ! - against Martin Jolley.
Pele Reid was on and I remember there was a lot of buzz around him being the next big thing.
Thing that sticks in my mind about that night, is that I only witnessed 16 rounds of boxing in 9 fights !!
Scrap - do you remember the bill header, when Terry Dunstan sparked Keeton in the first ?

Tim Witherspoon came over in 1988 and whacked Mauricio Villegas. Tricky fight to find but it can be done.

I saw Howard Eastman box there in 2006 and score a spectacular one punch kayo over Richard Williams. Also saw Yuri Romanov slice up Jon Thaxton.

Terrific atmosphere... not been for a while

Saw couple of Napa fights there, think last one was v Haskins when his fans were going mad at the referee/corner - tense.

Glen Johnson picked Toks Owoh apart; Ken Buchanan took part in a famous unlicenced fight against Jimmy Revie; Vernon Sollas took part in a famous European title against flat-faced Italian Elio Cotena, when Sollas, after boxing brilliantly, ran out of steam dramatically and was stopped in the 14th round.

Paul Ryan boxed there and packed them in. Didn't the schoolboys finals and ABA finals used to be there every year?

Same - that was my first and only time in the York Hall and it fully lived up to expectations. Had brilliant seats on the balcony and when Froch KO'ed Magee you could really sense the impact. Brutal.

I thought Mugabi may have fought there, but having checked his record he boxed at other venues in London but not there.

Hi Palooka. Been friends with Darren's sister for years. Met Darren many times and he is charming, a good guy to be around and a very quiet man.

I think the majority of British world champs would have fought there at some point.

What's the story behind the time Dyer went after Lloyd Honeygan with a hammer? Enquiring minds and all that...

I don't know what it was about...but I think they were in the same camp.,I met a fighter who was in that camp, a welter who sparred all of Duff's fighters at the time. He said Honeyghan was the best, mouth he's never felt anyone punch as hard as Dyer

:TU: I know that another big hitter, Wayne Alexander is also a mellow and decent man, say 'hello' to Darren from a Northern fan - I loved his fighting style and he had God given power.

Wayne is great. Funny and humble. Sometimes controversial but if you know him it's often tongue in cheek.

Back to thread title; I was lucky enough to have genuine ringside as MCMillan - Ingle. First row. My old friend used to work for promoter. Anyway. It was not only a good fight, but that close to the action, you realise how tough pro boxing is.

Sweet C is a cool guy and I hope Ingle is comfortable.
