IMO, most of in-between divisions & low end of the scale should be ditched.
Can't help but love how some came to be....particularly Light Welterweight
When I get a chance, I'll post the full story how Pinky Mitchell became the 1st champ

Carlos Ottiz's management "rediscovered" the division in 1959 when Ortiz could not get a shot at Joe Brown for the lightweight title.

Beating Kenny Lane to gain the title, Ortiz eventually later lost the title to Diulio Loi but got a shot at Brown in 1962, ganging up with Father Time to beat the 35 year old Lightweight Champion.

"Pinky" Lane? Wasn't it bad enough being named Myron? Keeping the title colorful he lost it to "Red" Herring in 1926.

And what? 8 titles titles in each division? Probably more when the WBA has 3 of their own in each division. That's over 100 world titles. What a joke! Little wonder the sport is stuffed.

In some of the lower weight div these days a 8yr old kid weighs more that them, and there weights are so close a 1 to 2 kg only. So drop some of those to make room if you think there are to many weights. :yay:

Well, seeing as the lightest division is about 48kg it would have to be an obese or unusually large 8 yr old kid.... I remember I was 38kg when I was 12 and starting high school and I wasn't by any stretch the smallest in my year. I'm 185cm and 75kg now.

48kgs is 7 stone 7 pounds (105 pounds) in the old money. I was well into high school before I weighed that much and I finished up playing rugby in the forwards.

And another weight division would mean a few hundred more titles.

There are no weight divisions which are 1 or 2 kgs apart.

Ofcoarse there are from flyweight to super feather are all 4 pounds. 2.2 pounds to a kilo. I think a weight division between Light heavy and cruiser would be sh1t but there could be something between cruiser and heavy. There's sometimes a massive difference.

In Primo Carnera's time some headline hunter suggested introducing a "dreadnought division." Main problem was that apart from Carnera there would mostly be fat men in the division.

Did they give the weight a go? Too bad Carnera never met Valuev. That would have been a show down!

Valuev lost his title to a man who was nearly a foot shorter than him. Against the Klitschko brothers Carnera would have looked ordinary in size. He was under 6'6'' tall and usually weighed between 238 and 260 pounds.

Yes but Haye had about a foot more skill than Valuev.

For some reason i thought Carnera was alot taller than 6'5, but yeah, he would have looked ordinary sized along side the Klitschkos.

Officially Primo was six feet five and a half. Short journalists made him out to be taller.

I was not talking about Haye, I was talking about Chagaev.

For that era he was. Joe Louis was 6'2" tall, Max Baer and Jim Braddock were each half an inch taller than Louis. When I was young in the 1960s a man 6'3" tall looked like a giant.

If there was a division between LtHeavy and Cruiser Danny Green would be perfect for the weight division.
