Point I'm trying to make to you Billy is that you can't go by past form on similar/same opponents or sparring to make a guaranteed prediction. It's good to be passionate but your showing your sleeve and emotions way too much. You mention 'no excuses' in earlier posts. I wonder if you'll come out with any should this fight not go to plan for you? Come on Billy, even you know nowadays its the fighters which make the title not the other way round. Your not talking to the general public on here who don't understand about the politics of the sport. Burns is a two weight 'WBO Champ'. And your deluded if you really think that there is 'no comparison between the two'. If I was Ricky, I'd be concerned your thinking like this and taking Mitchell to lightly and giving him no respect. Anyway, not long now so we shall see. One thing, it will be interesting

You see, I'm glad most are writing Mitchell off as most was for the Murray fight. Look what happened when nobody gave him a chance. Yes, Murray and Burns are different styles but that wont make a difference as he was written off against Prescott and his style is different to both (just in my opinion Billy, dont take it personal and comeback with abusive comments :) ). And I'll say it again, if your going to use the Katsides fight to compare then also use the Johannson fight. And Billy, I dont see Jimmy or Mark Tibbs on here getting all uptight and emotional over it. I'd say deep down they're more comfortable about this fight than you, wouldn't you? And if Mitchell did happen to lose, I'm sure they wont look back feeling a fool as they haven't been running their mouth off. Let actions speak louder than words, be humble and let it happen. Its a better feeling if it does happen, and its no pressure or shame if it doesn't. In short, stop acting like a 14 year old in a playground.

It's far from 'everyone writing Mitchell off'.
I would hazard a guess that if there was a poll running on here it would be something like 65-35 in Burns' favour.

so far the 3 nutt huggers on this site have he hits harder than katsidis, he's more accurate than katsidis, he has a masterful boxing brain and a granite chin. Yet katsidis smashed him up in 3 rounds without even breaking a sweat.
If his promoter didn't believe that a focused, fit Mitchell would beat Katsidis, he wouldn't have made the fight. And he certainly wouldn't have made the fight with Burns had Katsidis not been further shopworn from severe beatings off JMM and Guerrero.
Burns has improved dramatically, which makes it a good fight. Full respect to him and his trainer for this, but fancying Mitchell to knock Burns out doesn't make me a 'nuthugger'.![]()

I have the utmost respect for Jimmy Tibbs but Jimmy knows i have the better and more professional man.It will be a great fight when it happens i just beleive Ricky will be too good for Kevin (only my opinion).Des1 wrote:You see, I'm glad most are writing Mitchell off as most was for the Murray fight. Mate i supported Kevin when he fought Murray i like the guy and we talk every time we meet, what happens will happen.
Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
it will be a good fight.
I think Ricky has more in the tank and is on the upward curve, is more disciplined and has the better jab.
Kevin..as we know has had his ups and downs Iwould say has more power (but not the better chin) and is more flashy with more in his armoury. He is also easier to hit clean.
Its a good fight and like both lads. Dunno who i will shout for.

Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
Ricky seems to have his feet on the floor, has done great the last couple of years and has beat a couple of men that had very good track records. He does seem to be more settled than Kevin and if it comes off it will be a great bout. I think that Mitchell will knuckle down and get in fantastic condition; if he does then both will be facing the best they've fought; (Mitchell wasn't at his best v Katsidis, Burns hadn't hit his stride v Johansson, Martinez was a ittle over rated ad when Katsidis boxed Burns he was past his peak).billy nelson wrote:I have the utmost respect for Jimmy Tibbs but Jimmy knows i have the better and more professional man.It will be a great fight when it happens i just beleive Ricky will be too good for Kevin (only my opinion).Des1 wrote:You see, I'm glad most are writing Mitchell off as most was for the Murray fight. On their day both are top boxfighters. I hope it comes off and imagine that Kevin will have rounds to make up by halfway; it should be nerve wracking for both sets of fans. Kevin has one punch power and Ricky hit Katsidis very hard at times. An excellent bout, with no one to slate.
Re: Mitchell/Burns, 14th July, Upton Park, London
Really hope this comes off. Top match up, far more exciting than a couple of heavyweight hooligans, but this won't be on that bill now will it, after the BBBoC's statement?

i hardly think burns/nelson need to be too concerned about mitchel, when they've fought bigger names already at a higher level.Des1 wrote:Oh, thats why your comments are so cocky. the thing is, mitchell isn't a step up, so it maybe represents an unneccesary risk, but wouldn't be something that should concern a man who beat martinez and katsidis

Ricky Burns isnt John Murray you mug!Eddy wrote:Kevin's gona smash him up. Find it funny how no one's giving Mitchell a chance again. Then what happens, ...Kev stopped him, ...hahaha! Now you're saying that Murray played into Mitchell's hands with his "come forward style" The same aggressive style you all said would be too much for Kevin.
Now it's like Deja-vous all over again!
Kevin will send the sweaty back up the M1 with a black eye."Team Tibbs"

Dont you get it Billy? The point being made to you is not so much who will win but the way you carry on about it, your really letting yourself down. What if Ricky happened to lose? Lets say that in your mind the impossible happened? Honestly, how would you feel after childishly running your mouth off? More importantly, how will Ricky feel on top of not just losing but feeling he has really let you down, to the point of embarrassing you? Is it wise to put added pressure on a fighter? Anyway, I hear that Ricky Burns (more than likely with your input) is refusing to sign the contract for the fight. I may have heard wrong, I hope I have. So, are you expressing your overwhelming confidence or are you preaching this massive confidence because 'you know' this fight isn't going to happen?billy nelson wrote:Oh rest assured Eddy you will when i tell you all again "TOLD YOU SO"Eddy wrote:Now now sweet heart. Got to chuckle at those here saying Nelson is shouting his mouth off etc. Just look at some of the posts above! The Mitchell fan club hardly seem the standard bearers of class here do they?
Plenty here are giving Mitchell a chance if they do fight, Burns, understandably starts as favourite though. Mitchell gets some unwarranted praise at times here. Anyone would think we are talking about Manny Pacquaio the way some go on! Shame because he is a good fighter in his own right. The hype brigade has always seemed to follow him.

Difference is, Nelson is a trainer of one of the fighter's. Point out where I have shown bad class (if including me in what you referring too) as I can point out where Nelson has shown poor class in his comments regarding another boxer, its one thing stomaching it coming from a 'fan' but not from a coach of a respected boxer.yiddo14 wrote:Got to chuckle at those here saying Nelson is shouting his mouth off etc. Just look at some of the posts above! Billy, so the fight is not happening now because Burns (that really being you) has refused to sign the contract as you "Don't feel you have enough time to get ready for 14 July".....
