Alex Arthur can't shake off Limmond
What a bloody awful cringing title. Anyhow, this did come from the Daily Mail, so that's my excuse.
Basically they reported yesterday that Arthur tried to get out of a rematch with Limmond (who is EBU mandatory) by offering to ditch his Brittish title and give Limmond a shot at that rather than the two fight again.
The Limmond camp did not accept the offer.
All due respect to Limmond, as he has improved a great deal after losing to Arthur, but then so has Arthur after losing to Gomez, and I can't see a very different result than the last time if this goes ahead. It would be one of the more comfortable EBU defences Arthur will get IMO.
(Don't think this will be PPV either somehow)

I don't want to see Arthur-Limond II either, Arthur would just do the job quicker than before IMO Limond is an improved fighter but i don't think he will have the style or the techique to beat Arthur. But if Arthur wants to retain his European title i think he should get on with the job and fight Limond again.

I'm not sure how Limond has got this "challenger" position, I know he has been a long time EU title holder and this can install you in that position (i.e. Sprott). However, surely he has to fight some eliminator bout first.
How about the loser of Tontchev vs Nagy against Limond as chief support to an Arthur defence, the winner of that fight will definately deserve to fight Arthur.

For me, it just screams out for Arthur-Nagy (EBU) and Limmond-Doc (vacant British.)
Agree with Stu, despite holding the EU title, Limmond surely shouldn't be the mandatory, given the sound loss to Arthur not in all that distant past. It would be Nagy, of course, but he's walking round with the IBC bauble, which makes him inneligable.
I guess Arthur will just have to lump this one, wait to see if Nagy wins too, and then see whether he wants to fight Arthur or Barrios (Nagy being the WBO #1)
Nagy at any rate is the fiercest challenge Arthur needs/will get/should get in Europe at the moment

No doubt he'll ditch the IBC soon. As I say It's now just a question of whether he wants the EBU or WBO.hitman_hatton1 wrote:surely nagy would give it up for a euro title shot though.![]()
arthur gomez 2 would be a good voluntary defence wouldn't it.gomez would starve himself for another shot at arthur.
I'm quite surprised the EBU still rank Gomez at SF. I suppose until he fights again at a higher weight they can't put him anywhere else.
But Gomez did say he could only fight Arthur at a higher weight didn't he? Was it at the Sinitsin fight?
That was the fight I was thinking about when I said about a potential Arthur vs Voluntary and Limond vs Nagy/Tontchev loser. The minute I posted that, I thought.... Gomez.hitman_hatton1 wrote:surely nagy would give it up for a euro title shot though.![]()

Talking to myself here, but just read on Teletext that Docherty will be on the Anderson vs Okine bill. He did contemplate retirment.stujones wrote:Strength (or lack of it) will always be Limond's problem. I think Docherty will beat him aswell.
Incidently, any news on the former Commonwealth champion. Its been a while since the Arthur fight.

The fake belts go down a storm in Hungary. I saw an Erdei fight where they had a massive presentation ceremony with some WBO Intercontinental trinket.hitman_hatton1 wrote:surely nagy would give it up for a euro title shot though.![]()

Docherty may be moving down to feather:
Manager Tommy Gilmour said: "It will be his choice whether he wants to go for superfeatherweight or featherweight."
Docherty considered giving up boxing after his ninth-round defeat in April but will make his return at Fife Ice Arena.
"This fight will be made around 9st 6lbs, although we don't have an opponent yet," said Gilmour.
"The plan would be to try to give Craig a fight every six weeks and bring his weight down a pound or two until he gets to where he wants to be.
