Calzaghe is better than Hatton - MUST READ
This is fantastic. Tell me, did Calzaghe write comedy scripts for the BBC before becoming a boxer?
Now, where shall we start...
"Joe Calzaghe has upped the bragging stakes ahead of the 17th defence of his WBO super middleweight title by saying he is better than Ricky Hatton"
Anyone not severely weakened by laughter, read on...
"I've defended my title for eight years, let's see if Ricky is still champion in four years," Calzaghe said
*note Calzaghe has missed a sitter by forgetting to point out too the WBO's rankings and mandatory challenger's are FAR tougher than the IBF's*
Athsmatics please look away now
"Let's not go over the top - Ricky had a good win over Kostya Tszyu, but he fought a guy who was at the tail-end of his career who had fought once in three years."
*Good point Joe. I mean Zoo's nothing. A has bean, bumbling along scraping wins against nobodies like Sharmba Mitchell and Zab Judah.*
"I can't comment on Ricky's situation, but with regards to my own situation Frank is the best promoter in the world."
*Yup, making sure he gets a talented boxer like you all the career-defining fights he needs, like Veit, em, Veit, um...eh...oh oh oh - Kabery Salem - he was a tough one.
Keep telling it like it is Joe 8)

Moan Moan Moan,
Shut up Joe, you haven't fought anyone fit to tie even an aging Kostya Tszyu's boots and I'm afraid that includes Eubank.
Quite odd how he disrespects Hatton for beating an aging champion. Calzaghe beat and ageing FORMER champion to win this belt.
I've "defended" this belt for 8 years.
Yes, and Lester Jacobs retired an undefeated world champion too.... does mean those defences were worthy of being called defences.
Things like this really get me goat up.

Calzaghe beat an ageing weight drained FORMER champion who was due to fight at 175 only 5 days before the fight so had to shed an extra 7lbs aswell as whatever weight he was over 175 when he got the call.stujones wrote:Moan Moan Moan,

The sooner someone KO's him and shuts him up the better.

EDIT - you mean Eubank was due to fight Prince?

This is brilliant, it's becoming like Monty Python's 4 Yorkshiremen sketch, with the "I had to work for tuppence a month..."nickd wrote:Calzaghe beat an ageing weight drained FORMER champion who was due to fight at 175 only 5 days before the fight so had to shed an extra 7lbs aswell as whatever weight he was over 175 when he got the call.stujones wrote:Moan Moan Moan,

Except with this it's how bad can you make your opponents.
"RIGHT, I had to fight a bantamweight who had minus 6 days notice was 8 stone underweight with Ribena carton's for gloves, he w's paid 6 ha'penny farthing to go 25 rounds 'cept I was to sit down for 22 of them whilst I rested 'n referee gave me 10-8 scores whilst I sat down 'n he ran around dribbling Ribena all o'er t'place, then wh'n I stud oop he was to go down on t'ground for half an hour or un'tilt referee 'ud counted to 1900..."

Well the way Khan and his backers carried on in the aftermath of the Olimpics and during the ABA'S I'd suggest that its Alleged FW who needs to watch his back!....
Calzaghe is an utter nobhead, everyone in Boxing knows he is content defending his fake title against bums, i hope Evans Ashira sparks him and if not i hope Lacy takes his head off the moron. This article really pisses me off, Calzaghe has always been a shit talker but how can he cast aspersions over a great champion like Tszyu, arsehole

Frank has done good for boxers careers though which is true for guys like Benn, Hamed and Hatton.
Tszyu never fought for 1 year and 11 months actually though. Notice that since Tszyu beat Judah though, he was starting to fight once a year. I don'tmean when he was injured but he fought Tackie then Leija, looked like he was only going to start fighting once a year.

Warren actually did get him Johnson before he got injured though and it is possible guys ducked him like Ottke, Beyer and possibly Hopkins like he said on that reply to Ian's article.Yup, making sure he gets a talented boxer like you all the career-defining fights he needs, like Veit, em, Veit, um...eh...oh oh oh - Kabery Salem - he was a tough one.
Zoo just fought the wrong fight. A neutral location & ref and different tactics and the outcome of hatton vs zoo could easily be reversed. Never the less, hatton still defeated him.
Calzaghe should open his mouth after the jeff lacy fight and not before. I believe ashira is under-rated, there may well be an upset but i think calzaghe will win.
