Who would have done better for the fans than W arren? Did Jarvis Astaire and Mickey Duff? What about Eddies dad? Boxing fans get treat as mug punters because they love the sport; I do not go to live shows and the sport costs me every month; SKY,Allegedly Channel, Boxing News and Monthly, PPV etc. Football fans are fleeced, it doesn't make it right but it is how it is regardless of who you support and who is owner/manager.

Would boxing be better as a UK fan without Allegedly Channel?

I'm not digging, these are genuine questions.
I think onyl 'big' promoter that offers more to the fans is maloney but thats just my stance though the mag 7 show was great.

I go to live shows when i can but i cant afford thetv channels ( means i cant watch f1 either). I dont think it would be better without it far from it, it gives the boxers a platform but its just too mich to pay for sky then the channel again. Maybe a pay channel on freeview would be better and available in more houses. I have no axe to grind against warren BTW
Cheers for a honest and open answer :TU:

The state of Uk televised boxing is a bone of contention to me; I'm sure I can remember it better and less expensive.

It sometimes seems on here that W arren is a man to reflexively hate; nothing is good enough, the cup is half full etc etc and some of the posters have agendas; maybe work in boxing or have grievances. W arren is not responsible for the decline in British or World boxing; lots could have been done better and fans could have been loved and appreciated more. Is it better in Germany? The USA? South America? Anywhere? Really?
You are correct. I think TV boxing has gone down the pan with the pursuit of the 0 and thus less even match ups meaning less entertaining fights thus less fans tune in. And the big fightswere free on ITV for a long time

Put it this way Adam. I would be VERY concerned about getting my money from Allegedly channel.
I have heard rumours but this os first time a fighter before hand has expressed concerns

There have been many times a boxer has refused to box before seeing the money; particularly on small hall bills.

Chisora and Haye are professional boxers; men who are paid to have a fight. They are not priests or role models; they are not paragons of virtue. Pay them enough and they would most likely fight a monster in someones back garden. The rules should be there primarly for safety and ensure a level playing field, not to have lawyer types wetting themselves that someones' juristidiction is being impinged upon. If you think the bout is a crap one; don't watch it, if it hurt your sense of morality don't watch it. In a big bout people make money from it; that's been the case for over a hundred years; that's the rub of it being professional boxing.
nicely put :OhYes: , I'm slightly sick of the hand wringers and morality police passing judgement.
Fact is it's a fight that had to happen NOW.
Chisora has been stalking Haye around town it was going to go down no matter what, stick them in a ring with gloves on and a referee better that than someone getting killed on the streets.
The BBBofC would be better off letting this one go by..

The big problem for many is it's been orchestrated by the enfant terrible of British boxing some people are so OBSESSED by him they can probably be found on a Friday night rooting through his dustbins with a roll of stickytape!! How much does he make, how many subscribers does his channel have, who does he pay who doesn't he pay

I love to watch boxing and FW makes fights happen (when he wants too), British Boxing will miss him when he's gone :OhYes:

The BBBoC did suspend Chisora for the bite - that was my whole point. They gave him a punishment, he served his suspension - but shown in Germany that he's not fit, in their eyes, to hold a licence.

Tyson served his suspension following the ear bite on Holyfield, then five years after he was re-suspended in Vegas following the brawl with Lewis. Did the Brawl itself warrant such a harsh punishment, debatable - but what it showed was he was still a loose cannon and not safe for them to confidently think he will last through a bout without committing what could be deemed as a criminal act.

As for the arguement that as the brawl took place in Germany it has nothing to do with the BBBoC, rediculous. He was a British licenced fighter - they need to monitor the physical and mental health of their fighters and make a decision as to whether they are safe. Were the BBBoC wrong to suspend Scott Harrison cause of his issues in Spain?

Harrison did not turn up for the weigh in and had serious legal problems in Spain; it is not outside the reigns of possibility that Scot was stripped of his title and licence through political power; due process may not have been served though I am sure economic process was. Lets not pretend that the BBBoC is above reproach; who pays the piper pays the tune - at any council, court etc.

Yes but the whole point is that the BBBofC withdrew Chisoras license indefinately and they have no right to do that, if they'd just slapped him on the wrist and gave him a 3 month ban then all of this would never have happened but now they've basically started their own downfall.

The BBBofC are just some made up regulation organisation and you're giving them too much credence, if they went under tomorrow they'd be another BBBofC to replace them by monday who would be less corrupt and better regulated.

Just to add Dereck isn't a loose cannon in any way....maybe just a bit headstrong and stupid at times but i don't see anything he did in Germany all that bad, infact i liked he slapped vitali and spit in Wlads face after some of the stunts team klitschko have pulled over the years so deserved a bit of their own medicine.

We'll agree to disagree on this then. My whole point was a slap on the wrist and a 3 month ban in which he would be guaranteed his licence back hasn't worked in the past with Chisora. Whether the BBBoC are right or wrong, they felt Chisora needed to re-apply for his licence, I guess to assess if he can realise his misdemeanors were problem behaviours. Now, I am not saying this is entirely the right approach but personally I believe that, given his past issues, a slap on the wrist isn't appropriate either.

Now, as Frank has said the option was there for Dereck to re-apply within another federation OR the BBBoC at any time. So instead lumping all the blame on the BBBoC for handling wrong (in your opinion) - what was stopping Dereck just re-applying a month later, as opposed to fighting the punishment and stating his actions in Germany were the result of incompetance by the board "representative" out there.

Not sure how anyone who has bitten an opponent in the ring and been involved in domestic abuse can only be described as head strong.

Yes you are right about the BBBoC, but they have always been there in every forum members lifetime - I don't think the sport is that badly run myself. We could get a far more corrupt body taking over.

There have been other high profile boxers with 'behaviour issues' that have been very widely known about and kept under wraps and nothng was done RE banning orders etc. What is good for the goose has to be good for the gander otherwise no one can have the high ground RE the importance of rules etc.

An individual boxer would not be able to go against a ban without the backing of a powerful promoter and manager. We live in intersting times.

I don't have any problem with it whatsoever.

Neither of them are banned from boxing & they both have to make a living, so why not?

Worse men than these two have been allowed to box; some of them for world championships sanctioned by the high &mighty WBC, so these two should two be allowed to duke it out if they wish.

The fight brings shame on our sport and here's why......

I can't think of a single other sport, where someone who is banned/suspended/had there licence taken away, would just go ahead and compete anyway.

Anyone think Joey Barton should just turn up and start the next QPR game?

What about one of the cycling drugs cheat, should they just say, "bollocks, I'm going to the Tour De France?

Think of it this way.... what happens if a fighter gets done for PED's by the BBBofC, but just fights anyway, because he tests clean for the Lux Federation?

The fight is bollocks.

Hi twenty six; I'm not sure where that came from; I'd have thought Haye will make much more than that. It is a big bout and all the hype and arguing will make it a bigger draw.

And where will all this money come from?

Is it being shown abroad? If so, I can't imagine the rights cost a great deal.

Plenty of tickets have been sold but it'll cost a fair amount to stage; Upton Park won't come cheap.

Then there's allegedly subs. Not sure how this will work as subscriptions and PPV are quite different - Sky Box Office fights don't get a cut of the additional subscribers. I can't see that allegedly would have "paid" for the rights to the fight, so I don't really get where the money is coming from. The shallow undercard will help reduce costs and I suppose there may be savings from not having to pay anything out to the BBBC.

Does anybody foresee a riot at Upton Park before or after the bout?

After all it's been made on the back of hooligan antics, is being sold as a grudge match between two hooligans and will doubtless be well supported by such as well :bag:
