A Super Champion status?

Post by Crease »

This was just an idea that I had to assist with Unification fights later in the season.

What is a Super Champion?
Well firstly it is NOT a title, (we have enough of them as it is) - Super Champion is a status granted by one of The Big Four boxing bodies (WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF) to a Champion who successfully defends his title 3-times-in-a-row. And thus becomes a Super Champion.
For an example, should Benny Leonard retains his title this week he will then become WBC Super Champion..

Note: Whoever he loses the WBC Title to does NOT become Super Champion, the only way to become a Super Champion is to have three consecutive title defences.

The privilege of this status means that Leonard would then be able to unify the WBC Title immediately shoud he win it again later in the season. However, should he win the WBA, WBO or IBF titles he can't unify immediately because he has not been a Super Champion with their organisation - so it would be only for the WBC.

Like all ideas, it has it's flaws... And for example, later in the season it is possible that there might be fighters with more defences than some Super Champions, yet they are not Super Champions withselves, because they didn't defend three times in a row.

But this is just an ingredient for our pot, accept or discard it as you wish. As always, the people will have their say and decide this matter.

Good day to you all. And good luck to the Prizefighter guys (C'MON KID CHOCOLATE)

I'm not even sure if I like this idea, but I'm just throwing it out there. Super Champions can NEVER lose their status. And this really could help for later unifications...

We already have the WTF belt......and admittedly that's a great idea.....but this......well this sounds like the super duper double extra deluxe champion!

Could prove to be Even better!

I voted no because I'm stupid and didn't read the post first. I'm actually all for this idea.

It is NOT a belt, Buzz... It is a status which will be awarded to every Champion who meets the three-defence quota.

Admittedly later in the season there may arise certain complications, for example some Champions who have accumulated 5/6/7 defences to their name yet may never achieve Super Champion status.

This idea means that former Champions who meet the three-defence quota won't need to restart it again when/if they win that title back...

It could potentially lead to more unifications.

If we do decide to support the SuperChampion status... The Benny Leonard has become a WBC superchampion for the remainder of the season by successfully defend that title for 3 times-in-a-row.

This really does need to be decided upon. C'mon gents, have your say and vote in the poll.
