Funniest thing iv ever seen. I couldn't stop laughin all the way through the fight, from the 2 fighters to the shocking referee. Pure entertainment although for the wrong reasons

i think Towers will fight Price next unbeaton fighter with a good record who's no where near and will never be ready he's the perfect choice

I remember Tony from prizefighter, wasn't impressed then. He needs to review the team in his corner after the chaos last night.

Would be easy to knock Towers if he wasn't realistic himself, but he appears to a very balanced bloke (apart from in round 5 of course).

the fight was no ali-frazier but couldnt take my eyes off it, the referee was nothing short of shocking missing the knockdown and could of stopped it had he bothered to look at towers rolling around like bambi on ice and how many knockdowns does he need to see before stopping tony, tonys corner was terrible too, glad towers come through hope he has learned from the fight and will be interesting to see how he faires next time out.

To be fair to Towers, he is what he is i.e. a big, strong Johnny come lately. Seldom do guys in their 30s take up sports with a sizeable technical requirement and go on to do exceptionally well. I don't think anyone has suggested that Towers would be one of the exceptions. By backing-up his natural physical attributes and tenacity with some technique taught by the Ingles, he has the scope to earn a few quid on the circuit and perhaps one day challenge for the British title should his stars line-up. Not bad.

I'd agree with a lot of that and also what was said above - it's hard to slag the kid when he's so down to earth and realistic in any event.

Admittedly i'm biased but i think that fight did not show Rich to his true potential and he'll come back and look a LOT better than that in future. We've seen enough from his sparring with Fury and Chisora to know he's better than that. He realy did look excellent against both.

Technically, as Ian texted me, he needs to use his jab a lot better coz he does have one but you'd be forgiven for not thinking he did on last night's evidence.

He took a hard shot to the top of the head and he lost his balance and orientation. Interestingly, at the end of round four he was saying to Dom 'what's wrong with me' so perhaps for whatever reason it was just one of those bad nights at the office.

But there were also some plus points. First, massive heart to come back from being out on his feet to win. Second, he must be banging pretty hard when the round straight after he nearly gets KO'd the opponent (who'd only ever lost to Perez and Helenius) wants out the match.

I wish the guy all the best but judging by last night it'll be a miracle if he wins the British title down the line.

Towers is there for the taking he seems like a hummble enough chap but now he has a belt to defend he will get caught out fairly quickly, imo he has the most padded record out of the british heaveyweight's at the moment,

That was a terrible fight. Period.

Towers should've been stopped in the fifth round; he was gone. What's worse is that the ref waded in and rescued him three or four times before waving the fight on. If that'd happened in a German ring there'd - quite rightly - be an uproar.

From there it became farcical. Towers spent the next four rounds finding it impossible to figure out a way to beat a guy who, to all extents and purposes, was had decided that he wanted to be stopped.

Hardly a great advert for boxing IMO.

The first technically proficient/remotely ambitious bloke who Towers fights puts him away inside three rounds. A Dallas fight or Prizefighter entry may be a guilty pleasure though.

That's right - he did a little bit though not sure how much and then about ten years out. So he's starting again, really.
