I imagine that many of the higher level fighters have some sort of advantage; chemical/nutritional and if a boxer has ambitions to get to the higher levels the temptation must be strong to use. There are a number of supplement companies that advertise to boxers, to read the testimonials of users, they have a clear advantage over someone who doesn't use.
I think there will be a few very popular ex boxers who were lucky not to get caught out and shamed.
True but the fact is it's the minority. I've been in gyms with pros for years and I've never seen it. Not saying it doesn't happen, it clearly happens far too much but not everyone.
This clears shit up for me...
As John Ruiz notes, “The only sport in which
steroids can kill someone other than the person using them is boxing.
You’re stronger when you use steroids. You’re quicker and faster. If a baseball player uses steroids, he hits more home runs. So what? I’m not saying that it’s right, but you’re not putting anyone else at risk.
When a fighter is juiced, it’s dangerous. People go crazy about the effect that steroids have when a bat hits a ball.
What about when a fist hits a head?”
