DYup, surely he had shaken off the rust by the time Norton beat the dog shit out of him? It's repulsive that when dealing with a topic as universally great as Ali's career his cronies have to make an excuse for every misstep along the way. Guesstimation. It is just common logic that Frazier in no way fought the best Ali in 1971. If Tiger Woods was off 3.5 years would he be expected to beat the best golfers after only 2 golf events? If Dan Marino was off 3.5 years would we expected him to be able to perform at his best in the Super Bowl after only 2 games to shake off the rust? As for Ken Norton vs Ali there are no excuses. Where do you get that Gunboat Smith wasn't a good boxer?
