Bunce was always decent as a colour guy next to Andy Kerr's straight man act. This now seems a bit of an ego trip.

Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
Listen, I am not defending Buncey's disgusting manner, because it wasn't disgusting. It was just an off the cuff, air filling remark. Regrettable I'm sure, but not disrespectful. He's referring to a fighting man, not a pretty boy snooker player. Bunce championed Frazier and was moved when he passed away, and I'm sure Bunce would have been moved by the death of Paul Hunter, as I'm sure millions were. It is a very unfair comparison to make.loaded_gloves wrote:Some weird people on this forum. I don't think anyone's painful cancer-related early death should be discussed in such a glib, off-hand and frivolous manner. Especially not by a 'professional' boxing broadcaster, on TV, referring to one of the greatest boxers of all time. Can anyone imagine a BBC analyst on the snooker referring to Paul Hunter as "Ees dead now inney!? Ee's brown bread! Let's get him up as a hologram it'll be well spooky!"
It wouldn't happen, not only for professional reasons but also because of basic human decency. Qualities that are missing in Bunce, and certainly in the one or two posters on this thread who are defending his disgusting manner.
Like I said, would Bunce have dared speak of Frazier in such terms if a Frazier associate such as Foreman or Hopkins were sat on the sofa? No way.
Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
I think you hit the nail on the head. Bunce is a good writer in a michael katz illiterate style but he is a small time anorak at heart who has a very downmarket low level low grade style. He is a fathead late 80s loadsamoney alexei sayle fat man in an exploding suit parody of the far more serious boxing journalist who first emerged on ITV2's boxing first twelve years ago....since this new act and his callous rude arrogant disregard of the internet posters he once claimed to champion and who he used to get back on tv is his true face.....he is a disgusting money orientated human...the fact Joe FRazier is dead now means he is of no use to Bunce for a interview so therefore he is less than faeces to Bunce hence why he talked this way.loaded_gloves wrote:Some weird people on this forum. I guess this really puts to bed the rule that if you aint boxed you know nothing about it, seeing as Jim Rosenthal shits all over Bunce any day of the week and twice on Sundays as a commentator?

I used to be a big fan of Bunce but he's slowly getting on my tits. I haven't listened to his BBC London show for weeks now and I rarely watch the boxing hour even though I have it on a series link.
Maybe he needs to see what people are saying about him and freshen up his act. Although I doubt he will as it is obvious he has no respect for us keyboard/sofa warriors or whatever he likes to call us.
He really is chicken in a basket when it comes to presenting but there again I wonder if he's told to act the goat since his style suits the ridiculous presentation of his boxing hour with those cheesy sound effects and ridiculous captions.
It's sometimes refreshing to see a more laid back presentation but more often than not it's cringeworthy...as they say in the trade!![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

For this particular case the entire card (LIVE not on any tape delay) was shown, in English on Astrosports 3. It's not the first time that a foreign channel has shown a broadcast.Final round wrote:You tend to find alternative ways to watch the channel? Are you a subscriber, if you are I apologise but if not I find the fact that you can't even cough up a effing tenner a month to watch boxing but are willing to go all out to have a pop at Bunce for a flippant comment more offensive.iamasadlittleboy wrote:What are Ofcom going to really do? Go "well it's a subscription service they can do as they like" like I said, I said in twitter that a bit of respect wouldn't go amiss. The Dark Destroyer wrote:It can be seen as offensive by someone who is looking to find offence. Too many people these days seem to think them being offended means something, nobody gives a eff if you're offended, it doesn't mean anything, if you don't like something or someone, don't watch it or listen to what they have to say, you have that right. Bunce said nothing that was offensive, or anything that should have caused this thread.
How actually offended were any of you? Did any of you go to ofcom and make an actual complaint? Or did you go to Twitter and make a scene?
I don't particularly like his show or his presentation style so I don't watch it. It's really as simple as that.
The word offence is practically meaningless nowadays.
I tend to find an alternative way to watch what's on Allegedly channel but it hardly gives him an excuse to be a twat. It wasn't out and out offensive (your right) however it was "disrespectful" and "unprofessional".
Tbh I find Bunce and Lillis a little too similar in style so generally dont watch much of their studio commentary and believe they could do with having someone like Jim to pull it together like others have said.
I will never put a penny into a product that has lied time and time again or a penny into Bunces pocket.

Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
I ve always found Buncey annoying, right back to his BBC days, he plays to the beerswilling lowest denominator of the crowd and unfortunately this seems to have paid off for him in a perverse kind of way. However I think the Frazier quip last weekend sees Bunce hit an all time low, I actually felt sorry for him when I saw him in the studio as he looked haggard, bloated and sweaty and frankly totally off his head.... if this is what 'success' does for you then be careful what you wish for I say...

Yawn..... Sofa warriors alert!
Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
This is getting really boring, yes buncey says things that maybe he should think through first, no buncey probably wouldent of said it with the likes of Hopkins sitting there ( but he wasn't there ).
And YES buncey is good for our sport !
It's back to the old saying then, if you don't like watching or listening to him, don't watch or listen !

Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
So you are seriously trying to say that because Bunce used a different platform for his initial comment in the form of TV, nobody should have questioned him on it through twitter? If so, congrats on taking a unique approach to social media.
Bronxbull666 wrote:The purpose of Twitter was to post what you are thinking and let your subscribers/fellow twatters voice their opinion on what YOU have tweeted. I think you're failing to grasp the fact that the main USP of twitter is the opportunity to engage with other people who've chosen to use the medium in terms of expressing opinions, debate etc. It's a two-way medium, not one-way.Bronxbull666 wrote:Hassling people on Twitter is pathetic, sofa warrior behaviour.
I'm saying that there wasn't any disrespect in what Bunce said and that you can't cry over an off the cuff, less than flippant, throwaway comment live on TV.
Social networking is different, you have time to choose your words carefully. The problem with live TV is that presenters are constantly stiff, treading on eggshells, reading from a script, politically correct etc... Bunce talks a bit off the subject now and then, so what? He might border on sexism, or say the wrong thing, but the world is too sensitive these days. You can't do or say anything, and sadly, the Internet is the easy choice, quick method to hassle people.
I hear what you're saying. It's a fair point
Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
So other than ranting on here, what are people actually doing if they genuinely found the comments of Buncey disgusting or offensive?
Has anyone e-mailed allegedly with some feedback on the broadcast? Personally I've always found them approachable and they do tend to reply when I give feedback. Buncey and Lilis went through a period of spoiling fights that where happening on SKY at the same time. I e-mailed allegedly and explained this was not acceptable and suggested if Buncey and Lilis didn't stop doing this I would start watching the SKY show slive instead as they have too much class to spoil other peoples shows. allegedly got back to me within hours advising my comments had been passed to the production team. Since them Buncey and Lilis haven't spoiled action from elsewhere, to the best of my knowledge.
At the end of the day your paying allegedly, not Buncey. If you are unhappy with his comments let his employers know. allegedly may be many things but they do act on feedback if it's done constructively.

Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
I was watching an old Trevor Berbick fight on YouTube last night which reminded me of the time that Bunce joked about Berbick getting his head caved in. It was on his BBC London show last year sometime.
He was talking with someone like Lillis or Boddy and he made some joke about it and they both chuckled away merrily. I remember at the time thinking that it was in bad taste.
And for the record I'm not stoking the fire here, well not deliberately anyway, just thought I'd bring it up as it seems quite relevant...
