It's all abit of a circus really - I hope the Hatton fight is on the same night so it's pushed to the back of everybodys mind.

Unless somehow Flintoff has a good chin or a big punch he's there for the taking by any HW in Britain.

The opponent will know his role in this, whoever it is that gets the job.
Flintoff wins by UD. I know the result without needing to know the opponent.

A mate of a mate says Freddie's looking pretty good in training in fairness.

The people he's got round him I'm sure will bring him on but I'd happly take the fight and he can make me a believer im just not convinced
Re: Whos Freddie's opponent
There's no way Freddie gets into the British top 20, so why even bother ?

Re: Whos Freddie's opponent
If you were offered the fight i'm sure you'd be paid well but given a nod and a wink at the same time. The tabloids and TV would be desperate for a Freddie win but i'm pretty sure that an injury ravaged cricketer isn't going to be making any waves in the sport long term.kells wrote:The people he's got round him I'm sure will bring him on but I'd happly take the fight and he can make me a believer im just not convinced
Re: Whos Freddie's opponent
I do understand the skeptics and I agree Freddie isn't going to go far, but at the risk of being vaguely positive....
The forum is generally negative about boxings ability to crossover to the public, here is a chance to win some new fans. Have a tasty undercard, you'll hook a few in longer term. Many neutrals became more interested in the wider sport having been nurtured in with the likes of contender and prizefighter. The forum stronghold didn't/don't like those either.
It is what it is, I'm aware of the negatives, but we shouldn't exclusively focus on those. I don't have particular interest or any hope in Freddie, but if we get some more fans, even some more posters, I don't think thats such a bad thing.

Re: Whos Freddie's opponent
if the money was right i'd get a licence and fight him, i'd bet all my purse on me knocking him out

My concern is imagine the embarassment if he won !Manchester Hitman wrote: Can u imagine the embarrassment if he lostDD
Even a victory against some "tomato can" who is effectively paid to lose will reduce the sports credibility even further.
A 35 year old piss pot taking up the sport and winning a pro fight - is this what people in the sport really want to see ?
I am disappointed in Barry McGuigan for being involved, although not entirely surprised - he previously championed the professional boxers association. I guess the potential to earn a few quid overrides his principles once again (just ask "thank you very very much, Mr Eastwood").

X2, infact I'm calling Freddie flintoff out !Darcy Delaney wrote:if the money was right i'd get a licence and fight him, i'd bet all my purse on me knocking him out
I'm about 15st 10lb, drink 2 or 3 1664's every day smoke about 10 roll ups each day and exercise every 10th Monday !
If I get the call today, I will cut down to 1 beer, 3 cigarettes and exercise 6 days a week, probably get down to the heavyweight minimum limit and be ready to smash him up on time !
And if they paid me a fair amount I'm 100% serious, so if Barry is reading this pm me

Surely this is not going ahead is it?
Any half decent pro would take him to the cleaners.

I'd fight him too. My move from Super Featherweight to heavyweight would be complete.

He sued to fight in his teens... it's not like someone who never heard of boxing is taking up the sportbripez wrote:My concern is imagine the embarassment if he won !Manchester Hitman wrote: Can u imagine the embarrassment if he lostDD
