Unless somehow Flintoff has a good chin or a big punch he's there for the taking by any HW in Britain.

The opponent will know his role in this, whoever it is that gets the job.

Flintoff wins by UD. I know the result without needing to know the opponent. :TU:

I think they should give you the fight mate.

A mate of a mate says Freddie's looking pretty good in training in fairness.

There's no way Freddie gets into the British top 20, so why even bother ?

If you were offered the fight i'm sure you'd be paid well but given a nod and a wink at the same time. The tabloids and TV would be desperate for a Freddie win but i'm pretty sure that an injury ravaged cricketer isn't going to be making any waves in the sport long term.

I do understand the skeptics and I agree Freddie isn't going to go far, but at the risk of being vaguely positive....

The forum is generally negative about boxings ability to crossover to the public, here is a chance to win some new fans. Have a tasty undercard, you'll hook a few in longer term. Many neutrals became more interested in the wider sport having been nurtured in with the likes of contender and prizefighter. The forum stronghold didn't/don't like those either.

It is what it is, I'm aware of the negatives, but we shouldn't exclusively focus on those. I don't have particular interest or any hope in Freddie, but if we get some more fans, even some more posters, I don't think thats such a bad thing.

My concern is imagine the embarassment if he won !

Even a victory against some "tomato can" who is effectively paid to lose will reduce the sports credibility even further.

A 35 year old piss pot taking up the sport and winning a pro fight - is this what people in the sport really want to see ?

I am disappointed in Barry McGuigan for being involved, although not entirely surprised - he previously championed the professional boxers association. I guess the potential to earn a few quid overrides his principles once again (just ask "thank you very very much, Mr Eastwood").

X2, infact I'm calling Freddie flintoff out !
I'm about 15st 10lb, drink 2 or 3 1664's every day smoke about 10 roll ups each day and exercise every 10th Monday !
If I get the call today, I will cut down to 1 beer, 3 cigarettes and exercise 6 days a week, probably get down to the heavyweight minimum limit and be ready to smash him up on time !
And if they paid me a fair amount I'm 100% serious, so if Barry is reading this pm me :TU:

Surely this is not going ahead is it?

He sued to fight in his teens... it's not like someone who never heard of boxing is taking up the sport
Some people are just naturals... he obviously takes to boxing and is in condition
