Re: Bellew returns...
I've just read the note to Berrera's manager's 51-second loss to Baysangurov last year.

I always thought a dq counted towards stoppages ,guess not as otherwise i couldnt see where he had failed to stop someone .

Re: Bellew returns...
Must say its a poor opponent just like the faded Miranda last time, but worse...
Re: Bellew returns...
Not the best opponent but at least Tony is being kept busy and is getting his kite in the limelight.
Re: Bellew returns...
With the crap Froch vs Mack fight being the main event, I think they should be doing better than this for the chief support.
Is there anything else planned for the undercard? It is a woeful looking card at the moment.

I can just see the reasoning for having the fight taking the guy ranking.twenty six wrote:Leforge,

Re: Bellew returns...
We were promised quality cards - top to bottom.
Re: Bellew returns...
Do Hearn / Matchroom have enough signed fighters to provide "quality cards, top to bottom" every time they have a Sky slot??
Warren's 15th Dec show trumps anything Hearn has delivered this year.

It could, but to many fighers named TBA are on that card at the moment. There are good names on that card but will there be any fights as good as Purdy-Carsonstraali wrote:Do Hearn / Matchroom have enough signed fighters to provide "quality cards, top to bottom" every time they have a Sky slot??

Re: Bellew returns...
Really? Is that the one that got him a fight with Nathan Cleverley, at home? I would say thats very different to a shot to shit Edison Miranda and now this dude. Wouldnt you?Superheavy wrote:It's as if Bomber never left a certain promotional outfit!
Re: Bellew returns...
I can see the reasoning too, it's a good fight for Tony (rankings improvement), Eddie (zero risk), Sky (Bellew building as a star bombing out some dude with a great record) and whichever one of the governing bodies is picking up a fee. However it's a bullshit fight for the humble viewer. Mack is a nice boxer who folds when the going gets touch. He's done it before and he'll be doing the same come November. Bellew will be enjoying much the same, just as he did against and old, faded, fat middleweight a month ago.leforge wrote:I can just see the reasoning for having the fight taking the guy ranking.twenty six wrote:Leforge,

Don't blame the boxer - it's their living.
Don't blame the promoter - making dough for them and their fighter, it's their living.
Don't blame the punters - it's their dough, they can do what they like with it.
BLAME SKY - THIS IS BOLLOCKS, STACKED CARDS MY ARSE!!!!!!!!!

Whilst I'm disapointed with the Bellew fight and this cards not looking great, I'm not sure how you can say Warrens show trumps everything Hearn has delivered this year we don't know who any of them are fighting yet? Yeah its got names on the card but for all we know they could be fighting the type of opponents Hearn's getting slagged off for bringing over.

Martin David Islas. You gotta hand it to the guy, he gets beat three times and comes back for more.
I would prefer Bellew to fight him. In fact as long as i can find a photo of Islas I`ll be happy. A real Argentinian hardcase.

Re: Bellew returns...
Dunno if it's been mentioned but Bolonti is rated 7th by the WBC. So if Bellew goes out there and does a number on him he should be right up there around the top 5 you'd think.

Re: Bellew returns...
Poor opponent, but keeps Bellew busy and yeh I guess they are just going for the cheapest, easiest fight to boost his ranking. Not at all impressed with Matchroom's offerings so far this season, but hopefully it is building towards something.
I am one of the ones who is generally horrified at Sky pulling the plug on everyone else and just using matchroom, they don't have the stable to sustain my interest really.
Friday Fight Night used to be a staple for me, Sky, by their actions, has basically pulled the plug on their long-standing support of the UK small hall boxing scene, which is sad, as that was one of the main things I liked.
