Some Great Fights That Should Have Happened But Never Did

Toney/Hopkins (it was being discussed briefly in 2003 and I would've loved to see it come off)

Roy Jones Jr/B-Hop II (in 2002 after the "60/40 I'll kick yo ass" interview on the HBO doubleheader would've been ideal, both still at the peak of their abilities)

Castillo/Corrales III (damn JLC missing weight, I was so over the moon excited for this one at the time, damn shame we didn't get it)

Marquez/Maidana (if these two met at 140 pounds anytime between 2009-2011 it would've been a scorcher)

What weight for Tito/Mosley and Toney/BHop?
I'm especially curious about Tito/Mosley because by 2001 Tito was a middle. Shane wasn't nearly as good even at jr. middle. Those two juuuuuust missed each other at welter. Shane didn't go up to jr. middle until 03 when Tito was temporarily retired. Tito came back again--but at middle.

I think had the fight have been on the table, Tito might not have entered the Middleweight tournament and been willing to take on Shane at 154...whether Shane would've been willing to come up to 154 to meet him in 2001 is debatable. Toney-Hopkins I believe was being talked about at a catchweight of 185 or something like that...so I would expect that to have been the agreed upon weight.

I think Tito would've still gone for the middle championship rather than face Mosley. Oscar moved to 54 in 01; Tito didn't stick around to face him, and he was a bigger star than Shane by far.
I think Tito wanted to be welter and middle champ. Unfortunately, there was a fellow named Bernard waiting...

Curry/Hagler...no.
The window would've been quite small for that, as you point out. Curry beat McCrory in December 85, Curry fought Rodriguez in March 86, Hagler fought Mugabi in March 86, and Curry lost to Honeygan in September 86.
Curry proved nothing at middleweight. Hagler easy for me. My criterion for this topic is guys in the same division at the same time (or guys who fought a good fight and who should've rematched immediately, unless one retired like Chiquita or Lewis).
