it wasn't the bill that was the issue - there were some good fights on, the issue was not being able to watch most of the main event.Final round wrote:Out of interest if this bill had been on Sky or allegedly would they have got panned or praised?

Most men use the international comparison of a pint of beer.
"Went to romania on holiday"
"Was it cheap there?"
"£1.20 a pint"
"Fuckin well cheap that"

He seems like a decent guy and fair play to him if it was a good bill, but it doesn't really matter to me if he's nice or runs around threatening to sue everyone in sightJLP wrote:For the bill they'd have been praised, I reckon. Two of the fights were bad matches, the remainder were tremendously well matched. Obviously if SKY or Boxnacion had the dramas in delivery that Coldwell had tonight they'd have got bum raped but it's different. Coldwell is a decent guy trying to push something for the boxing public (obviously he has his own interests at heart but that's fine) and it's a concept I like, so I'll support him. But he's had his chance for fuck ups now. It's got to be right next time.Final round wrote:Out of interest if this bill had been on Sky or allegedly would they have got panned or praised?

Dave put on a great show by the sounds of everyone in attendance. The app needs more development - but to give Dave his due he put his faith in a 3rd party whom failed him. It was not Dave's fault but Joe Public see his name on the tin.
Unfortunately people may now be tempted to swerve the next online show on that basis because folk are fickle like that.
If it was a fiver, many would need a refund, but Dave can keep my £1.50 - i just wanted it to be successful for the bloke because he is doing the graft to be successful and to try taking things to the next level and giving punters good events.

The good thing about dave is that he will take it on board and make the changes and not stick his head in the sand.
Re: Crolla vs Farrel... Battle of Manchester for £1.49 bargain
Got in from the fight about half an hour ago.
I really hope Kieran is OK shown he can handle it with good domestic fighters. The look on Coldwells face concerned me and I wish Kieran a speedy recovery.
Amazing main event personally didn't feel the scorecards reflected the fight. Just eager to know that Kieran is OK and doesnt suffer any long term damage. He willl learn a lot from that fight and come back stronger.

Re: Crolla vs Farrel... Battle of Manchester for £1.49 bargain
Absolute zinger of a fight; in fact a belting card all told, only Derry Matthews will be disappointed that his last minute opponent was a total powderpuff.
Farrell v Crolla is easily my FOTY; swung both ways almost every round maintaining a lightening speed and Crolla in the end used all his class and experience to score the win. Can't see how two judges scored it so widely for him mind but that's irrelevant.
As for Kieran's collapse, it was bizarre; after the fight both fighters were celebrating, Joe Gallagher made a point of hoisting Crolla up when he and Farrell were embracing, so Farrells trainer then came into the ring to do the same. Farrell got down, and everyone was just mingling about waiting for the scores to be announced when Kieran slumped down, and then collapsed.
Absolutely horrific but I see reports from Boxing Ireland's writer - who was at the hospital as he's obviously someone with connections to Kieron - has said he's awake and ok, but extremely dehydrated. He's being kept in for observations but is otherwise I believe ok. Such a shock, I did read one report that mentioned a small bleed on the brain but haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else.
Hopefully it's just dehydration and/or exhaustion, it wouldn't be surprising, he gave absolutely everything in the fight. He also proved a few doubters wrong after the Prizefighter stuff, and proved he's got a terrific chin to match his heart and hand speed, he took some very flush shots but didn't look wobbled once. Pray that he makes a full and swift recovery.
As for the streaming, it's a brilliant move. I tweeted Dave not long back asking if it were possible; as someone who lives near Bournemouth it means an awful lot of travelling to get to most decent small hall shows. Watched the show on the iPhone App tonight, a few issues with sound at times but the picture was excellent. Was a pleasant surprise to find Ryan Rhodes and Jamie Moore co-commentating too. Well worth the £1.49; in fact as far as entertainment goes I actually feel a bit guilty that I only paid that for that quality of show!
Also good to see the second fight for Liam Hanrahan. I'd heard about his first fight and then saw it, this guy is the real deal and will go on to be a big name, mark my words. Oozes class.

Re: Crolla vs Farrel... Battle of Manchester for £1.49 bargain
Virtually no problems with the stream for me. Excellent value and I'll take the next bill if the price stays at £1.49 regardless of who's on it.
Was there a decent turnout at Bowlers ? Bills like these deserve to succeed.
I was watching the main event and found myself thinking about Adam Smith's delusional interview in BN this week. This Matchroom-only policy is totally ridiculous and as a boxing fan I want to see fights like Crolla v Farrell on SS. BSkyB Operating Profit Up 24% To £790m in 2011...not excuse whatsoever for not showing this sort of stuff.

I wonder if Ryan Rhodes used to drive a Toyota? He kept referring to Corolla all evening.

Hope Kieran Farrell is ok
Re: Crolla vs Farrel... Battle of Manchester for £1.49 bargain
The morning after...
I obviously didn't see the final four rounds or so but I definitely had the same opinion as the judges up to the point my stream packed up. I bet the people at the venue, even just a few rows back, would've had it more level on the cards because in the early rounds it may well have looked like Farrell was seriously outworking Crolla. Crolla was, though, catching a lot of Kieran's shots on the gloves and arms and up to the point I lost images the vast majority of the quality, scoring punches were thrown by Crolla. I can't praise Farrell's intensity highly enough, though. I really hope he gets better quick.
I'm happy that some people had no problems with the stream. Up to round 9 of the main event I had barely a glitch (images dropped out for about 10 seconds and sound for maybe three minutes earlier on) and certainly had a better viewing experience that some other posters but when the stream did go it was a disappointment, especially as the fight was such a barn-burner. There were obviously big problems for lots of folk. Like G0mez, I've no intention of seeking a refund and, like I said last night, I'm not too pissed off given it was the first effort, I just hope Coldwell takes all this as constructive criticism and works to get it fixed for next time. I think boxing people should give this concept a real chance to work.

The Angolan you speak of is actually Gilson De Jesus from Nottingham , Born in Angola but very much a brit been here virtually all his life and im pretty sure holds a british passport .JLP wrote:Wow. 58-57 in favour of the Angolan. Phil Edwards reffing. He was a very unorthodox fighter and Phil obviously thought he did enough. In no way a shocking decision but not how I scored it.
Fairly useful amateur but cant really shift a ticket hence being on the road via Carl Greaves .
Hes heavy handed and if he was a ticket seller would probably have ended up a propect to an extent , i know far worse boxers with more luxurious record .
His amateur team mate Eckow Essumen will be one to watch when he eventually turns pro but im led to believe hes just begun training with the GB team .
