Am surprised about the posts during this fight. Groves for me was excellent, albeit still room for improvement as he was open to be hit if Johnson threw some punches. That said it makes him more exciting to watch, and remember he is a 15 fight novice fighting and dominating a guy that took Froch to a close decision 18 months ago.
Groves appeared at stages to look like he was going to punch himself out, but paced it well overall. Groves has some decent power but Johnson has an excellent chin, demonstrated by his record.
I don't want to see him in with Abraham just yet because if he lands, Groves will be put to sleep. I'd like to see another couple of fights and Groves tightening up but he is definitely on the right road to becoming a world title contender at the back end of next year. No need to rush.
I don't think Groves or his sloppy, open style with scant punches wins a world title. I think he'll get KOd or emulate David Haye and stay away to lose a clear UD.
The beating Glen Johnson would have issued a fellow like Groves 4 or 5 years ago would be the stuff of snuff.

another way of looking at it is that groves did what he was supposed to do, and can improve, and would use a different strategy vs someone like, say, abraham.
I admire your optimism, but Groves is what he is and he boxes in that familiar Haye/Booth style we've become accustomed to. Low work rate, try spring surprises, rounds drag by.
Fair enough if you like it, but it's not a style I enjoy and I don't think he'll win at top level with it.

Yeah, he's been moulded into Haye's 'posture and then occasionally explode with punches' style but he doesn't have the explosive power of Haye to hurt guys at the top level and he's way too open.
Even if he tightens up a lot I don't see what his advantages will be over any other contender, unless he goes after crappy paper titlist level guys like Stieglitz (which is probably what he will have to do).
