Mark Prince Licence

I've just see on Mark's facebook page that he's been refused his licence from the British Boxing Board of Control ? all it say's is it aint finished yet' what's your thoughts on Mark getting his licence back ?

Huge amount of sympathy for what he (Mark Prince) is trying to achieve but in my humble it shouldn't be in a boxing ring.

Lillis hinted at this the other night on allegedly. He didn't mention names but I thought of Mark Prince straight away, he basically said he'd recently seen a come backing British boxer in the gym and had serious concerns over him coming back.

The Board over here generally do a good job on this issue, you've got to take emotion out of it and I hope (and believe) they have.

Can I ask why there is so much discontent with prince making a return???
The man lives well & never had a punishing career so what's up with him doing a 4 or 6 rd job??
He would turn over most of the domestic cruisers IMO

X 2 Mark is nearly 44 and been out of the ring since 1999 why would he want to come back ? But as you say best of luck in life to him

I agree the unlicensed circuit would welcome Mark with open arms

I doubt there would be a problem if he was only going to fight in 4 rounders against journeymen, but I guess he wants to come back and have once last tilt at title class. Getting in a 12 rounder against a young hungry fighter is a different thing. If he did get hurt in that sort of fight the board would find it hard to justify it.

Notice no one's said why he wasn't granted a licence.
Before everyone slaughters the Board should we not establish that ?
What if there is a medical issue ?

Agree Parson's Cross - likewise though, if it is just concerns over his age (and not based on a medical report or also on concerns about how he is performing in the gym) then the BBBoC warrant criticism.

But as you state, we don't know the facts so shouldn't judge.

Michael Holden and Terry Dunstan were both recently granted a licence and are a similar age and had a similar period out. Dunstan was fairly sucessful on his return, should have got a British title shot - but took some wrong options.

This is an internet forum, we'll have no carefully considered responses based on all the facts here.

If Mark wants to box, there is absolutely no reason that you could put forward that would make me say he shouldn't be able to do so.

I don't recall mentioning anything about wanting to make you say anything. If anything, I prefer the bouts of silence.

I respect and like Mark, but there is more to this than whether he has had ring wars. It's not about morals. If I were some kind of moralistic crusader, I wouldn't be nuts deep into one of, if not the most corrupt sports on the planet. I just have a view, like you do, and mine is that he should not be fighting now. I don't mind that not everyone shares that view, in fact healthy disagreement forms the basis of many of the best threads. So you please say, or don't say, anything you like
