The Ring have apologised to Peterson for reporting a false story.

The boxing 'authorities' (I use the word loosely) are completely farcical when it comes to drugs. One of the problems is that there are so many different regulatory bodies, there's no unilateral sanctions/punishment etc.

The Morales situation is even worse than Peterson. He gets caught the week of a fight. For this, he has received a 2 year ban from USADA. Why the hell, then, was he allowed to fight AFTER being caught??!?!? Crazy world. And to top it off, he will blatantly disregard his punishment and just continue fighting in Mexico.

It's this sort of nonsense that does the sport no favours.

USADA has no authority over boxing in America. The local commission is the governing authority, they can and did ignore the usada. The suspension of Morales is a nice gesture but they can't back it up.

Surely the boxing commissions would be more respected is they have an agreement with USADA? Like the BBBofC have with UKADA(?)?

Bottom line, Morales have been caught doping, has been banned by THE recognised doping authority, yet will be allowed to fight somewhere on the globe. Just not right.

^^^doesn't change the fact that they have no authority in boxing and in America if the boxer in question is not Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao nobody cares what's going on.

i don't even know why most of the stuff ada tests for should be illegal for a pro boxer to take.
the olympics is ridiculous enough, and they usually can't even catch the most important stuff.
usually it's not until these lab scandals like balco where someone turns state witness and client
lists come out do we find out who is taking what (like mosley). it's a wasted effort trying to catch pro boxers
who use the wrong toilet paper or eyedrops. forget marijuana altogether as a performance enhancer.
it's not even illegal anymore in some states, and probably many more in the next few years.
just make a list of the important substances, make sure their gloves and wraps aren't tampered with,
and make sure there is nothing in their water and the corner is using authorized whatever.
