fw friday liverpool show off
Re: fw friday liverpool show off
allegedly really seem to be struggling to get any of their own shows actualy on, just become a channel for watching foreign fights. As an avid follower of British boxing, I'm fast becoming starved of any real TV action.

I think with the standard of the domestic action thats been on the channel in the last 6 months or so,people are becoming less bothered about the situation now and are just lapping up the improving world actionTheCobra wrote:Allegedly channel really seem to be struggling to get any of their own shows actualy on, just become a channel for watching foreign fights. Disappointing that the shows off, but fair play to warren for making tickets sold valid for the 20th.

How many now has light heavyweight Callum Johnson had pulled on him ? 4 or 5 ?
Last fought almost a year ago.
The treatment of Johnson has been disgraceful. Commonwealth Games gold, turned pro with supposedly FW as promoter and Hamed as manager and stuck on the shelf and made to suffer when he had a moan about his treatment on Twitter.

Time waits for no man. I'm sure he's thinking of how he can get himself out more often.gobbles wrote:G0mez wrote:Maybe fighters didn't want to go through all the aggro of selling tickets to a show that would likely be cancelled like every other.

Surely he needs to leave to get fights.

Re: fw friday liverpool show off
What did the press release say ? I've read on two sites that poor ticket sales were to blame but not sure if that is the official reason / excuse ?
Re: fw friday liverpool show off
All this talk about fighters having to sell tickets..........it's a joke! Name me one other sport were the athletes have to provide the spectators to guarantee participation and payment?!
It's a tough enough sport as it is. Fighters should fight, promoters should market the damn thing. Simple.

Re: fw friday liverpool show off
Whilst its very commendable that the tickets are valid for the 20th (and for a better card also!), I think the promoter should have just accepted the losses and went on with the show. Its going to be much more of a job for these fighters to sell tickets in the future. If I had bought these tickets and couldn't go to London..... I would think twice about buying them again - are refunds available?
It might make a change, but I do admire the honest for the reasoning why the show isn't going ahead.... makes a change from fighter "injury".

I agree entirely in an ideal world but unfortunately we are not in an ideal world
Re: fw friday liverpool show off
I think Warren/allegedly are missing a huge gap in the Boxing market at the moment, Friday night Boxing is something Sky use to always do, I loved it, but now we have very few shows live on a Friday night. I hadn't a clue this fight was on Friday to be honest, which shows the lack of promotion, but whatever the problems they have, I think the fact they aren't using Friday night dates to promote the likes of Fagan, Swifty and Butler is a massive error.
The Liverpool fight public have had two big shows in the last month or so, therefore it was going to be a tough sell really, it's a tough economy, and you have to feel sorry for the guys who were meant to be on the bill, they need fights to earn their living. I know that Stephen has a young family, and he's told me on Twitter that he's desperate for the Selby fight, but would need a tune up first.

The problem they face is the cost of putting on the shows. An outside broadcast to do a small hall show probably costs £60,000, then you add the cost of putting the bill on and that's a big investment. I suppose if allegedly viewers had a choice, would they want one small hall show or possibly 4 bills from the US.
Re: fw friday liverpool show off
US shows every time for me!!!

Yeah triffic. Scousers have to pay to travel down, and probably a hotel.expe wrote:Disappointing that the shows off, but fair play to warren for making tickets sold valid for the 20th.
Is this the end for this particular promoter in Liverpool?

Butler's offering free coach travel to anyone with a ticket and if people can't make it then they can get refunds.Dan Dares wrote:Yeah triffic. What about those people who have paid their subscription to BN. Don't they count? Apparently bringing about £1m per month into his coffers.spudder56 wrote:i am not the biggest fan of Bunnys but If the show hasnt sold I can fully understand why he has pulled the show At the end of the day if people dont want to pay to watch he had no choice or else he would lose a fortune I know that the board dont recognise ticket deal contracts but unless you have a TV Deal that is the way its going to go like it or not

Of course the subscribers count mate and they need to take the matter up with BNroy wrote:What about those people who have paid their subscription to BN. Don't they count?
