Its gamesmanship, its psychology it should be applauded IMO. Especially in the case when a player needs to win all the mental battles to overcome a better opponent.

Stu, I see your point. But I really, really hate Ebdon. Fair play to him, because he has, as you say, used gamesmanship to beat a far more gifted opponent. And I can't really knock him for that: As O'Sullivan said, he's got a family to feed, and he's there to win.

But I just hate watching guys like Ebdon, or that tosser Hewitt in tennis (best example I could think of in another sport), who win by essentially using the tactic of 'pissing off your opponent'. I know it's not a fair complaint, because sport, of any kind, is essentially about winning. But I prefer to see real talent win out over annoying 'intensity'.

Besides, Ebdon is one lucky bastard as well. Plus, he's from Wellingborough, which is not far from me, so I have to put up with loads of shite about him on the local news. Northamptonshire celebrates any achievement, no matter how piss-poor, as if it's another bloody moon-landing. So Ebdon winning gets all the carrot-crunching tossers talking non-stop.

norhtanption is a shithole, i lived there for 18 months, worked in the thorpeville toby if ya know by the round spinney roundabout.

quit when there was that incident with the kebab skewer on the pool tablke if you were there round 91.. nasty.

I'm sure the following was brought up at the time, but I can find the thread about it. Anway, Paul Hunter (as in the snooker player, hence putting this on a snooker thread (it's all up here you know 8) )) his cancer is in remmission and he is planning to make a comeback for the UK championship's in December.

Good news. And with the return of this thread, I'd just like to point out that Northampton is still a shithole. And I do remember that incident at the Thorpeville Toby, J, although I was only a young lad at the time.
