Certainly agree at middleweight. He was spectacular at times. At super middle, I don't remember seeing him in a fight where he had the same spark. He was certainly good enough to beat most at 168, but, IMO, he wasn't nearly as dominant as he was before the Toney KO

I think more or less by the time he was at SM nunn was a lost cause. He had blown his shot at superstardom which he had threatened to grab during the summer of 89 with the perception that he had won a lucklustre victories over Barkley and Starling. I personally thought these were good wins but then he got the new york boxing media cabal on his back running him down. He broke up with Surkein and his management and they crucified him in the press and amongst some of the power brokers. His attitude was bad at this time and when Hearns, SRL and Duran no longer became viable the moment was gone.

The fact he fought so safety first during this time after the impressive run of stopping Tate, Kalambay and Roldan was a shame. Certainly he had the tools to stop Barkley.

Really though, that didn't happen imho. I know that's what it said on the commentary but if you watch it to me it looks rather more like a gradual dismantling. Angelo Dundee apparently agreed with me.
