The channel is a subscription channel and is decent value for armchair boxing fans; the PPV concept is generally a rip off given that we pay a subscription on top. Football, rugby or cricket fans would not have it.

They fill their own stadiums though don't they, and more often than not have a loyal, profitable fanbase. Boxing by its winner take all nature isn't like that.

Well, “allegedly” left Sky to maximize their income with PPV fights on BN it hasn't worked! Not Matchroom’s fault. The sooner people realise this the better.

Now that it’s gone practically tits up, all other promoters are now friends...

Is that just your opinion or can you prove it? It sounds interesting and I would like to learn more.

It's a opinion, Sky basically stated they were stopping PPV after Haye v Harrison because it was a total mismatch. Khan also stopped fighting on Sky and headed to any PPV channel he could sell himself too (fair enough). BN emerged late 2011. It isn't unreasonable to believe FW business model was to charge a monthly fee and oversell on big fights (they don't have the subscription base to pull it off IMO) as PPV. I believe that is the only way BN could run at a decent profit. FW is a shrewd businessman, I just don’t think he calculated that Fast Eddie was going to be as passionate about boxing and as flash with his cash.

IMO, BN was hoping to put a end to Sky's stronghold and forget about all other promoters, and it hasn't happened...

We can all try and go into the motives and actions of other people we do not know but I have to say that regardless if the reasons for Mr Warren starting the allegedly channel were totally charitable and altruistic or not; if he had not made the investment and the effort then the boxing fans in the UK would be much worse off. The channel is a must for a fan; I like the slightly amateur feel to it to be honest and I like that the under card bouts are shown.

Yeah, the problem is how “Allegedly” is putting the spin this allegiance with the other promoters is for the fans, its not, it's for self preservation nothing more nothing less.

That doesn't matter at all to me; I do things out of naked self interest every day of the week; the same as every one else I know; so it's not really a problem to me at all. Warren is not putting himself up as an elected representative or leader of moral issues is he? He is selling a television channel that has taken a lot of money to set up; I can't imagine it's all that easy and straightforward to do and to get things done I can see that he's to do business with people he maybe wouldn't socialise with. Again; I don't care; a tenner a month and some very good boxing on and it seems to be on when there's not a deal on SKY. There's no big millionaire businessman that isn't self interested.

We agree.



I actually think the alliance is beneficial for British boxing, and the fans in long run will benefit IF these fights get made.
