Anthony Joshua signs with Matchroom
Re: Anthony Joshua signs with Matchroom
Anyone else think because he's pretty raw still he could adapt to the pros? Take it fairly slowly and learn the trade?

Thats bizarre haha.squared circle wrote:Yes mate. McCracken that is, not Joshua!!columbo wrote:You stood next to him for the anthems?squared circle wrote:Stink job in the final. We were sat next block to McCracken etc and I managed to stand next to him for the anthems as security was so lax.
No way Josh won that.
Still he looks the part and I reckon clever Eddie will carry him to a version of a world title in say 3 or 4 years.
If he is turning pro that is.....

Joshua looks to have some dig, has some skills and seems a sturdy sort from what I've seen. Anyone seen him in any trouble in the ams?

We just hurdled end our bit at end, security just watched us. Loads of empty seats around Team GB section. I just walked up to him, shook his hand etc. Man of few words to be fair!

Surely you do the exactly opposite?Rogers21 wrote:move him along the same as deontay wilder just so he gets alot of experience
In terms of "fights" yes Wilder is experienced with 28 bouts, but in terms of real experience there is nothing there. 48 rounds Is no experience for a guy who has been a pro for over 4 years.
What they should do with Joshua is get him in with tough but limited guys that will take him 4-6 rounds regularly as opposed to being blasted out.
Wilder has been in the 4th round twice-we have no idea what his stamina is like, we know he's been down officially once (and been down on at least 1 other occasion). Who would have though Price's gas taken would have been empty after 4 rounds on Saturday?
It's great having power but don't use it all the time, sometimes you need to know more about yourself as a fighter than "well, I can bang"

He seems a really nice and humble guy I wish him the best. Just Lennox Lewis comparisons you see in papers are annoying !!!

He lost a couple of times. He looked stiff and laboured, a manufactured boxer. I don't think he'll make it.
Gotta love this. "Gift wrapped an Olympic medal".
FFS. If it was that easy why weren't you there?
The guy was a prodigy. He had little amateur experience but still qualified for the Olympics and WON.
He is a natural athlete with heavy hands. So long as he serves his pro apprentice somewhere out of the limelight such as deep in the States or Germany, gets good quality sparring and a good HW trainer and learns the pro game quietly (unlike Audley) he stands a very real chance of doing something good for the UK in the pro game. Time will tell but he looks suited to the pro game and clearly has a lot of desire and natural ability. Good luck to the lad.
