Friday, September 14th 1923 (New York, New York): The previously once stopped, defending world champion and American Jack Dempsey becomes the only fighter (in a world title bout) to stop (KO 2) Latin American star boxer Luis Angel Firpo. Dempsey later loses his world title (and subsequent world title bout rematch) to the previously once defeated, future short reigning (2 years) world champion Gene Tunney.
