Wilder - Liackovich spoiler
Re: Wilder - Liackovich spoiler
Despite the poor opposition, I enjoy watching him due to the highlight reel stoppages he commonly produces. I think there's a good chance he'll be the type who wins and loses in such a manner.
Re: Wilder - Liackovich spoiler
Regarding people saying he's been protected and build up this big record by fighting cans and that it's because he has a poor chin is wrong I think. Personally I think he is being protected somewhat but it's more to do with the fact that he's still very raw at times. He only had 35 amateur fights if memory serves me right and didnt take up boxing till late. I think it was something like 4 years between him starting boxing and him going to the olympics and winning the bronze medal. That's a hell of an accomplishment when you think about it! A lot like Anthony Joshua has done.

He can definietly punch! That isnt just because the guys he's fighting are no good or whatever.crusader wrote:Despite the poor opposition, I enjoy watching him due to the highlight reel stoppages he commonly produces. If it's a case of he can only beat who's put in front of him, then he's doing a hell of a job. I think he'd eat Seth Mitchell alive.

Mitchell is down to fight Arreola, i'd be surprised if Mitchell wins that one.

Me too. I think it's Chris' fight to lose.Old bones Ian wrote:Mitchell is down to fight Arreola, i'd be surprised if Mitchell wins that one.

He sort of looks like he can box, til he lands, and then he attacks like a stand of bamboo in a hurricane. It's the most disorganised thing I've ever seen in a boxing ring. He's not the next big thing.

Where did you read/hear that Wlad dropped Wilder? Do you have a link? The Law wrote:Wlad allegedly dropped Wilder when they sparred according to Manny Steward's assistant. However, sparring with Haye and Wlad was great experience for Wilder and he has improved considerably since.
Wilder's legs are rather thin, which is a worry.
Don't worry about Wilders legs, they work.

Re: Wilder - Liackovich spoiler
I agree that there aren't many fighters who could stand up to those shots, but he's not going to blow through someone like Dominic Guinn, there are guys who will get a chance to land on him before being bulldozed, that's all I meant.columbo wrote:I doubt there will be many fighters who will be able to absorb his shots. You might be able to take the odd few here and there but with the power he's carrying you wont be able to stand up to too many of them.Riddick Blowe wrote:Good speed and power but he's been protected for a reason. His team will know about his chin...the signals are all there.
Once he goes in with someone who can absorb his shots and punch back we'll see what he's made of, my guess is he won't like it at all.

I'm glad you're not Price's matchmaker ....
i used to be pele reid's matchmaker
Re: Wilder - Liackovich spoiler
Liakhovich is shopworn in the extreme but he is usually able to takes a sustained beating before being stopped these days.
I've only seen this and the Audley fight but i thought his power, speed and balance are all decent but without seeing him in against any resistance it's impossible to gauge what he can do against a top HW.
Solis has called him out and that's one i would like to see if only to force the fat Cuban to box with some urgency and show what he can do. I can't imagine he'd be concerned enough about Wilder's power to train hard but i can hope.

Yes. It was exactly as I described, except that because Liakovich went down so hard from the first shot, we didn't get to see Wilder's marionette with tangled strings impression. I'm again reminded of Price, who I fell for because he could send people to sleep. Liakovich was landing the lead right hook with ease; I'm going to enjoy watching Wilder while he lasts, but he's not going to be THE champ. I'd like to see him against Tyson Fury.keithmoonhangover wrote:Did you watch the Liakovich fight?SamWise72 wrote:He sort of looks like he can box, til he lands, and then he attacks like a stand of bamboo in a hurricane. finally watched the fight, impressive power again; Liackovich was on the floor spazzing out like an epileptic prostitute. I still think Wilder is a carbon copy of Price when he steps up he's going to go the same way, are they ever planning on putting him in the ring with anyone half decent?
