Geale/Barker and undercard RBR.

Just gotta get more points than the other guy.... Barker did that. Don't really see too many people arguing with that result, close fight however you saw it.Trent wrote:I had Geale winning. Barker missed most of his punches and never hurt Geale once. You have to really beat the champ to take his title IMO

I think Barker could be competitive with Quillin, but G....no.[/quote]columbo wrote:Barker wont fight either of them in a million years I dont think.SouthpawStephen wrote:Bbbbbbut G's resume doesn't compare.... 8)columbo wrote:Very close fight. I dont know. I dont think Barker would handle Quillins power either! If Geale can hurt Barker which he did on a few occasions not just to the body then he'll go down against Quillin.

Re: Geale/Barker and undercard RBR.
We've got a riveting matchup of Barker vs Sturm to look forward too....

He's the champ; so what? That isn't part of the scoring criteria.Trent wrote:I had Geale winning. Barker missed most of his punches and never hurt Geale once. You have to really beat the champ to take his title IMO
Re: Geale/Barker and undercard RBR.
I quite rate Quillin. Id pick Golovkin against him purely because he looks unbeatable at the moment but I think Quillin is somewhat underrated. He can really punch and he's got a good boxing brain.SouthpawStephen wrote:I feel Quillin is on about the same level as those guys. He would be competitive with Martinez. But G is by far the best guy in the division.
Re: Geale/Barker and undercard RBR.
I still think Geale would give GGG a good match, has good boxing skill and a good chin, could really push ggg into the later rounds and see what he is made of. I'd still like to see Geale fight GGG.
Re: Geale/Barker and undercard RBR.
Geale would get trashed by GGG as would Barker..... It was a fun fight tonight but when you put it in perspective they are a big step below the pace. Geale isn't that hard to find, he was taking shots all night, GGG would have him out of there.Trent wrote:I still think Geale would give GGG a good match, has good boxing skill and a good chin, could really push ggg into the later rounds and see what he is made of. Appears so.SouthpawStephen wrote:Is bias coming into play here?Trent wrote:I still think Geale would give GGG a good match, has good boxing skill and a good chin, could really push ggg into the later rounds and see what he is made of. I'd still like to see Geale fight GGG.
To answer your earlier question, I think GGG would stop Barker, who doesn't have a great chin. Barker due to the Geale win has IMO a slightly better resume which is how I rank fighters.
However, we already had Martinez/Barker, which I thought Martinez won clearly (meaning he was well ahead on my card before the stoppage).
Re: Geale/Barker and undercard RBR.
Quillin is the same level as Barker?
No. Just....no.
Quillin puts dude's lights out with 1 shot.

Quillin would take Barker's head off.

Yeah, if Geale did that to Barker...I doubt he survives Quillin.diddy wrote:Quillin would take Barker's head off.

He'd be done inside of 5 rounds. Geale, or Barker, would be an underdog against Macklin.
Re: Geale/Barker and undercard RBR.
C'mon, man. I Like Geale as much as the next Geale fan, But GGG would destroy Geale, there would be no later rounds.Trent wrote:I still think Geale would give GGG a good match, has good boxing skill and a good chin, could really push ggg into the later rounds and see what he is made of. yeah being from Australia myself I can admit that I'm a bit bias.
I'm not saying Geale would win. Just saying Geale could be competitive with his style, and good chin. Just saying he could push GGG into the later rounds. Would he win? I'd think not, although it would be an awesome victory if Geale did win.
Re: Geale/Barker and undercard RBR.
I agree he'd extend GGG, but there's no point in it. Barker'd be more deserving.Trent wrote:SouthpawStephen wrote:Is bias coming into play here?Trent wrote:I still think Geale would give GGG a good match, has good boxing skill and a good chin, could really push ggg into the later rounds and see what he is made of. Unfortunately, we might get Barker/Sturm.
If we do, WAR BARKER!
Re: Geale/Barker and undercard RBR.
Yeah, a Geale win would have opened up a few more interesting middleweight clashes. The Barker win doesn't really do as much, and you're probably right, he prob will fight Sturm or Soliman etc.

Re: Geale/Barker and undercard RBR.
This was a fantastic middleweight fight; the best in years. Lots of close rounds but I think Barker won a deserved decision with his harder shots landed and quality output. He also showed to be much better working off the angles and precise counter-punching than I ever thought he was capable of.
That said, count me as one who still thinks Geale presents a tougher challenge to Golovkin than Barker. Not saying I favor Geale, but the guy has super-human stamina and a seemingly cast-iron jaw. If he could stand upright and keeping tagging GGG with body punches into the middle-late rounds, that would put Golovkin into new territory and I could definitely see Geale outworking him to win a decision if he could stay upright. Barker on the other hand, while being the more polished boxer as he showed tonight than Geale, had great heart but I think it's clear not the durability to survive Golovkin.

Although I do think Quillin would give GGG big problems, I really rate him.

Well there's nothing to demonstrate that. I also strongly disagree Macklin would be favored over Geale and Barker . . .I'd confidently pick Macklin to lose to both.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He couldn't.dempseyfire wrote:This was a fantastic middleweight fight; the best in years.
