If you think he is so bad then you must really not rate Tony Bellew.

Cleverly got chinned against the first "world class operator" he got in with.

I don't rate Bellew at all, he will also get found out if he gets a title shot.

I'd say the pair of them are only slightly better than British level and have been matched very very well indeed.

It was a silly fight to take fair play he took it but I would bet he will wish now he hadn't.

So if Kell got offered Floyd if Floyd wanted to make his UK debut would you have no interest as he would have an awful lot less chance than Clev did of winning?

I am serious do I think Kell would beat Floyd no.
Did I think Clev had a cat in hells chance of beat Kovalev no.
I believe it would be a live fight though.
My comparisons are based on my opinions if the skills of the fighters.
Not the bookies odds mate.

Hmmm. Not sure many will agree there.

The bookies had the clev fight close due to 2 main factors as I saw it.

1) Kovalev was untested past a few rounds and if clev could take the fight the distance, no-one knew if kovalev would just run out of juice.

2) There was every possibility if Clev could hurt kovalev and unleash a volley of unanswered punches, being the home fighter he could well get a soft stoppage from the ref.

Clearly his chin couldn't deliver 1) and so 2) became irrelevant.

Neither of these points would apply to brook vs mayweather (and I'm talking of mayweather right now, not post canelo). He routinely lasts 12 rounds and is super fit. Even in London he'd be the "home" fighter due to TV and all the other politics, so brook will get no favours from the ref or judges.

Kell's only chance would be landing a knockout and can you honestly say you envisage that??

For me Cleverly was not seasoned enough at the top level to take on Kovalev. All titles he had won were vacant titles (not all his fault) that he was favoured to win. He just never got the right fights to make him improve to the level needed for Kovalev or a Hopkins if that fight had come off. We have seen Froch in tough fight after tough fight. When the seasoned Froch fought Bute we saw what happens to a guy with an inflated record of wins agianst sub parr opponents.

Cleverly has the tools but the seasoning is just not there, I hope he can refocus and rebuild and bridge the gap between european and world class.

Boomer is mandatory and Murat was scheduled to fight Bhop. Kovalev was no more seasoned, just better.
