How long the thread goes has nothing to do with me, I don't think pointing out that Brook has achieved less and been in with worse fighters is a bad thing to do in a thread like this, personally I don't think you should be taking the piss out of fighters when they lose, especially when they step up the way he did in this fight. I don't expect any of the posters who criticise Brook's career and recent opponents would create this thread if got stopped in four by a top Welterweight.

Barton, Ndou, Jackiewicz - there is 3 boxers at European Level. He has definitely boxed above domestic level, just not elite.

I don't think its questionable, I think he makes it.

I know Joey Barton likes a scrap but I don't think beating Ousmane Dabo makes you European level  If he makes it, why was the Jones rematch at 10st 12lbs?

The top and bottom is that Nathan boxed his way up to a 'world title' while studying mathematics at university; he was not a bone fide world champ but had done something very few boxers manage and even fewer while having other commitments than training; it would be very very hard for any boxer to get a world ranking while either studying or working full time. Kovalev is knocking everyone about and may turn into a dominant champ, Cleverly asked for the fight which says a lot about him.

Cleverly has achieved more than Kell up to now and has nothing to feel ashamed about - he lost to a better fighter and a big puncher and deserves more respect though it is plain that the OP was having a laugh and wasn't being mean.

I am agnostic about Kell Brook - he really looked the business on his way to the British Title but, for me, doesn't seem to have made the jump up to dominating his opponents on the way to a world shot. The rest of the division and the champions won't be that bothered if Brook doesn't get a shot; there are others around who they can make very good money fighting, the welter division doesn't spin around Kell Brook and the weight question is a pertinent one; I'd like to see Kell box a top 10 welter at the welterweight limit and beat them well to force a title shot.

You should have been on that Trayvon Martin/Zimmerman thread a couple of weeks ago; I aged a year in a day.

@expe it was added to the Hull bill as a run out following injury.
Kell couldn't train on his foot at full impact so a catch weight was set.
Kell came in lighter than Jones did.

It's one thing to have a coach who knows about increasing functional strength and another one who knows which supplements do what and how to do without solid food for 2 weeks. Anyone who needs to really struggle and go without food and taking meal replacement powders while training hard is boxing at the wrong weight.

Hatton, no idea why i would have typed Barton. But theres 3 fighters for you anyway, I think you would agree they are above domestic level.

The weight thing has been gone over forever and a day in other threads. Was something which suited Jones as much (probably more) than Brook, and it meant kell didn't have to train as intensively the first fight back from his injury. He has also said repeatedly that he is fine making welter and that his future lies there. I'd imagine with people criticising him all the time it would have been easy for him to blame the weight and thus move up, he hasn't so I tend to believe him.

I think SNG meant who as in who would be the person waiting to create a thread mocking Brook's downfall.

I'm not talking you here, but you only have to have a look over a LOT of threads over the last month or so to see that there are people genuinely waiting to be proved right on Brook. He seems to be very polarising.

I haven't realy noticed these posts then, as for me personally, I want Brook to do well, I'm just sick of the waiting and all the Matchroom/Sky propaganda. The announcement for his last fight really took the piss with alleged top fighter coming over and then we get Senchencko, that's just a joke. I'll freely admit that if they target Khan if he beats Alexander I'll want Kell to get starched.

But I think we could also agree that if Khan beats Alexander then he has become a legitimate WW fighter, it kind of throws the reservations you had about Kell wanting Khan because he was a LWW out of the window. If that fight comes off then I will want Kell to win, but it will be one of those where I don't mind either way. Whoever is better, wins.

I was disappointed with Senchenko. It smacks of Hearn nursing Kell though to his mandatory. Plus side is though, he can hardly take a backward step after Senchenko, I would hope Hearn knows that, so I would hope its only relevant fights once he gets rid of Senchenko.

I am a little suspicious though DMA on the pull outs though. The reason I say this is say that Alexander beats Khan, there's a very good chance than Alexander would get the next shot at Mayweather *providing he beats Alvarez* which in turn would mean Alexander would likely vacate the title which would leave Brook fighting for a vacant title most likely against some mediocre opponent.

The reservations would still be there, they want Khan because they see him as an easy fight, it's not like Khan's vulnerabilities aren't there for all to see. I just hope Khan gets a Mayweather fight instead, he is ranked 2nd or 3rd with the WBC at WW so I have sneaky feeling that's where the winner of Khan Alexander will be going, which will I assume leave the IBF title vacant for Kell.

I hope you're right about what will happen after the Senchenko fight.
