I've done well in boxing without Tommy Gilmour in my life and that's the way it will continue, let's be honest David if people who work with him say things to his face rather than behind his back you'd find he really isn't a popular man at all

I'm sure that like you and I, Tommy isn't in this business to be liked. He is in this business to make money for him and his fighters, picking up titles along the way.

I'm not in professional boxing for the fame or the money but to help look after young kids and try to help them reach the levels they can without being used by the horrible people you can meet in this business, and there are lots of people looking for their share off the back of young kids who may not have the right team behind them to know who is really trying to look after them.
Well IMO if any young fighter wanted a promoter in Scotland I'd recommend Alex Morrison because he has the personal touch unlike Tommy who in your own words is purely in it for money ,I know for a fact Alex hasn't always taken money off his fighters, you can't say the same for TG :OhYes: :OhYes:
IMO for a manager to be allowed to take 25% is wrong and something the BBBof C should look into

If any young fighter wanted a promoter in Scotland I would advise them not to bother and find one in England.

I wouldnt class Tommy Gilmour or Alex Morrison as promoters as they barely put on shows and when they do they are barely promoted. Neither of them has a website which is scandlous in this day and age. They are both dinosaurs are have done very little to promote scottish boxing in the last 10 years.

The only promotions company in scotland i would give pass marks to is Prospect as they seem to be putting on regular show and promoting them via social media which is how word of mouth spreads nowadays.

I can see what both Alex Morrison and Tommy Gilmour do for boxing in Scotland and without them Scottish boxing would be in a bad place.

I can't speak for working alongside Alex Morrison so I won't make any assumptions but if you are trying to tell me that Alex isn't in it to make money then I think you have something blinding you from the truth. At the end of the day it is their job and nobody would work hard and not expect to get paid for it.

I agree with you on the 25% fee but at the minute that is the way things are you just have to work with it, imo the coach should get a better % for the long hours they spend day in and out getting their fighters ready for the fights, but without the right manager you won't get the fights!!!

You know first hand how hard it is to get the breaks for fighters when you decided to manage fighters as well train them, if promoters don't want to let you in then you are not getting the fights even if you deserve them.

You need the person who will help open the doors to the bigger fights and Tommy can do that (as can Alex) but I have seen Tommy live up to that personally, we wasted years listening to the Ingles telling us that the next fight was an eliminator blah blah blah, we went and spoke to Tommy who told us that if Lee won his next 2 fights he would get Lee a shot at the British, he delivered, after being beat he promised Lee a couple of wins and he would get him a commonwealth shot, he delivered. He also told us that if he kept winning he could get Lee the shot at the European Title, he delivered.

Now although Lee never won all of the fights Tommy got him into the position to fight for the belts so imo he done his job, you will say the same about Alex Morrison with Ricky so is it not the fact that they are basically the same at all depends on which one each person is used to dealing with?

Tommy is a manager, he takes 25% of your fight purse. If he was also your promoter he is entitled to 25% of all earnings ie sponsorships etc.

But David has you know the % payable by the fighter is on agreement with a manager but it's doesn't seem to be the case with TG it's 25% take it or leave it, now as it stands in Scotland Alex's has by far the better fighters,tv with Matchroom and Sky and he chooses champions in Simpson,Simmons,Slowey and Ricky.

I don't see how someone having the best fighters has anything to do with people keeping their promises or the kind of person they are to deal with?

Billy come on much better fighters that's 4 fighters only one above British Level at the moment. Although I hope they all go above that.. Tommy has a lot of fighters around the same level as these guys. He has Vassell, Limond, Clark, Mccallister, Traynor, Cornish, Prince Arron and Kris Carslaw to name a few all pretty good fighters. As for the percentage that's up to BBofBC there is a few things I think are shocking. Did someone say Prospects was the biggest promoter in Scotland. You have to love these forums.. Gilmour and Morrison are stand out at the minute.. Morrison has tv your right Billy but if Ricky had lost Matchroom would have struggled to keep Sky interested in Boxing up here in Scotland. The tv is fickle if I compare cards to the SECC show to the one this weekend there is no comparison allegedly have the better shows!! I would love too see a big Scottish Show with all promoters working together!

I never said they were the biggest promotion, I said they were the only one who actually make an effort to promote their show and have some sort of presence on the internet.

How many british champions or fighters up for eliminators do Gilmour and Morrison promote?

Gilmour doesn't promote some of those fighters though and only Vassell is at domestic title level and he won't fight in Scotland because he wouldn't sell up there. Morrison has 3 fighters at title level, 1 of those a world champion.

I'm sure he manages them all might be wrong?? Limond is commonwealth champion is that not a title.. Which titles does Morrisons 3 hold that are at British or commonwealth level? There isn't much difference in the camps apart from Ricky and I'm sure Tommy has more fighters?? Both probably have good and bad points end of the day we should all want what's best for Scottish boxing and put differences aside

Doesn't slowey hold a internationals siters title. Surely that isn't counted? Of that's case ronnie holds a British bronze masters. Also I think slowey is capable of British level as he's a great fighter and a nice guy to boot:) if Ricky loses that world title Morrison will lose tv and Simmons , Simpson and slowey won't have the options and chances tey are receiving now. Just fact.

Billy there was proberly more shows back when Ricky wasn't at the top mate. Scottish boxing is dead apart from matchroom shows which benefit Morrison fighters. I'm a Ricky fans billy but 3 shows a year isn't exactly changing the face of Scottish boxing. Mate it's not dundee love it's supporting a local fighter who trains his arse off and is willing to test himself. Sometimes few
Of us go overboard when it comes to banter but he trains hard and dedicated and to say people are better calibre of fighter because his promotor is quote laughable:)

I know fine well Ronnie trains hard and i do hope he gets a chance to test himself because i know thats what he wants and unlike some in the sport who spout a lot of shit about wanting this fight or that fight Ronnie would take the fight and not be scared to lose,so fair play to him.
I disagree that the 3-4 show that Ricky will headline a year doesnt make a diffrence, one all the undercard fighters gain valuable experience on a big show and two they'll gain exposure on tv were other promoters in Scotland wont and that in itself is invaluable.
Be honest with yourself who are people talking about in Scotland apart from Ricky at present? Simmons,Brophy,Slowey and of coarse Simpson, simply because of tv.
At present the only two people worthy of tv outwith these guys in Scotland are Willie and Wee Butcher because there proven at championship level.

I disagree completely!! Worthy of TV? As a fan I prefer entertaining fighters! As I'm sure most fans do well most I have spoken too.. Let's go down your list Ricky at his best is a boring fighter to watch that's not a bad thing and I'm a big fan but he deserves TV because of being a World Champion... Simmons apart from his last fight all the other ones were borefests.. Brophy is a piggy back ride from Ricky I'm not won over on him even getting anywhere near title level not worth TV.. Slowey I have a lot of time for good honest pro but it's painfull watching his fights again people watching won't be that interested.. I seen Willie fight at the caird hall and a few other times wasn't the best to watch.. Ian Butcher was entertaining in his last fight will give that one.. Simpson is always good for tv. But the ones that would make Scottish boxing shine are Paul Appleby, Craig Mcewan and Ronnie Clark all 3 are in exciting fights and have personalities that go good on tv.. If Eddie Hearn had a brain he would be using them for the tv audience would give Ricky a far better back up in the way of viewing figures

He manages them, but some, like Vassell and Arron aren't promoted by him. Simpson has proved he's at domestic level and Simmons is capable of beating Dickinson.

Daviedee you need to read your posts mate you contradict yourself continually, you say you want to watch entertaining fight?
Ronnies fighting a out and out journeyman, so is that going to be entertaining or a one sided beating and your paying £120 for the pleasure, who's the fool?
Tommy loves guys like you and has made a good living by doing so
Tv also bring bigger revenue for the fighters, i can assure you what Ronnie will be paid for a dinner show Morrisons boys will be paid 4-10 times as much, plus the chance to showcase there talents on tv
Anyway i hope his hands better and he can up the level of opponent very soon times running out

Billy I have been to all of Ronnie's fights and only one I would say was boring pretty good in 10 fights and there has been a few journeymen in there. Doesn't matter who Ronnie fights it's entertaining!! Your missing my point some of those fighters you mention it's like watching paint dry. I know for a fact that most casual fans have no interest in watching any of these fighters. They may be earning more now but it's not all about the money. I don't contradict myself. Ronnie makes fights interesting.. Personality is the key to TV success at this minute in time their isn't many fighters with big personalities on Tv.. But look at Fury... Haye and Eubank Jnr these are the fighters most people want to see some love them some hate them. At this minute in time the TV shows for the Burns undercard aren't the best.. Hearn is trying to find someone who can headline shows in Scotland in case Ricky loses or goes to America. At this minute in time there is no one. Ricky has done good for Scottish boxing but not having someone that can stand out from the rest means that once Ricky is gone boxing in Scotland will be down the Pan Tv wise

Sorry pal your so deluded I'm wasting my time replying seriously, if they were like watching paint dry thousands wouldn't turn up to watch would they, for instance David Brophy sold 600 tickets for his last fight he was a floater had gloves on for 4 hours and all his fans waited to watch him, so your once again and it's only my opinion way off the mark, nobody in Gilmours stable in Scotland sell anywhere near that amount of tickets so all these punters think like you thinking its like watching paint dry.
Cast your mind back to dundee when ronnie boxed al Hamidi it was a 8x2 snooze feast mate no atmosphere whatsoever ever
