thats my point mate why do you need a title a good fight will be a good fight and with sanctioning fees that this so called title takes up it takes money away from the fighterskells wrote:Why does it bother u so much?? I reckon its more like 500 quid. The Insider wrote:Say at 150 quid a pop is a nice 7.5k for the board to plough back in wherever they see fit (dont say the bar, the pie shop, spearmint rhino) :-)mexican roadsweeper wrote:49 last year.
I've heard the belts cost £250, but, like anything, the more you buy, the cheaper it'll get. If your ordering 120, I reckon you'd get them for a tenner each.
Which leads me to think - If these belts do indeed put bums on seats, and it costs £500 to sanction, why don't the boxers/promoters selling tickets just buy their own belt and call it whatever the f**k they like. They'd be quids in.

The 150 I was reffering to was an example of what the board could charge. Masters titles cost 250 quid iirc and you can then buy a belt for 500 if you wished.Dan Dares wrote:I reckon its more like 500 quid. The Insider wrote:Say at 150 quid a pop is a nice 7.5k for the board to plough back in wherever they see fit (dont say the bar, the pie shop, spearmint rhino) :-)mexican roadsweeper wrote:49 last year.

They know us less boxers will never get to fight for the good titles so they play on that but mayb the bored could govern them in some way So they had some meaning??? Mayb puts u in number 1 spot for area belt?? I'm just clutching here but I do agree a good fight doesn't need a title attached to it

So how come Japan doesn't approve the WBO or IBF let alone any of the other rubbish belts that are about, if they can do it why can't the BBBoC . As they are always saying they are a leading light in boxing

Yes, that was the "Dizneyworld" title (cruiser or heavyweight I think) - and it was a chap who did it simply to take the piss out of the title situation - I think it was actually some sort of old hub-cap latched onto an old leather strap.stujones wrote:Remember about 10 years ago (maybe more) a journeyman would always fight for a belt, that he created, called it something like the mickey mouse title.... when he lost, there would be a "new" champion.... and then a minute later the new champion was stripped and the journeyman declared vacant champ!
He wasn't actually SERIOUS though.....

but surely the board have to sanction the fights knowing that the Masters title is on the line, therefore accepting the fight and the title. No?spudder56 wrote:Darcy Delaney wrote:i just see that tyler goodjon and dave o'connor boxed for the british silver masters title, what the f^*k is going on here people cant even tell you what a masters title holder is a champion of, ? so now we have a silver title, (what does that make you a champion of) im not having a dig at the fighters but why couldn't they have a ten round fight for an area title, (at least you know what your a champion of) i think the board need to sort this out by not recognise these titles,if fighters want to fight for these titles then the fight should not be sanctioned,
every title you can box for i.e area, british, commonwealth, european, world you know what you are a champion of but not the masters, so if robert smith reads this please sort this out and get rid of the masters title like you did the wbu title
The Board do not recognise or sanction the Masters Titles as far as The Board are concerned they are just 10 Round contests Bruce Baker runs these titles and the criteria for the titles is on the Masters Titles Website in which the Regulations seem to be breeched all the time http://professionalboxingpromotorsassoc ... &Itemid=37
Read the regulations and you will see what I mean and then check the records of boxers who are competing for these titles Also no Board official presents the belt for these contests The Belt is supplied by Mr Baker and usually a sponsor presents it THESE TITLES ARE NOTHING WHATSOVER TO DO WITH THE BOARD

I was at a show last Friday (27th September) in Essex, top of the bill was a cracking fight between John Wayne Hibbert and Calum Cooper, the title on the line was the British Masters Gold Title, What gets me is why did there have to be a made up Title on the line when they could of had a ten round Fight as an Eliminator to a proper Title like the English, Also the santioning fee could have been split between the fighters instead of going in someone else's pocket.

If it shifts more tickets and gives the lads something extra to shoot for, why does it matter?Darcy Delaney wrote:I was at a show last Friday (27th September) in Essex, top of the bill was a cracking fight between John Wayne Hibbert and Calum Cooper, the title on the line was the British Masters Gold Title, What gets me is why did there have to be a made up Title on the line when they could of had a ten round Fight as an Eliminator to a proper Title like the English, Also the santioning fee could have been split between the fighters instead of going in someone else's pocket.

Reading Boxing News this week, it seemed like every second fight in the UK was for a vacant (surprise) Masters Bronze title. What is the point? Do they actually sell extra tickets? Do the extra ticket sales even cover the sanctioning fees?

The ill-fated bout last week between Damo Jones (10-0-0) vs Simone Lucas (4-18-3) was for the British Masters Bronze light middleweight title.

they are cheap to sanction, they ensure higher ticket sales, boxers get paid more, more people come to fights, gets fighters a leg up from 4 and 6 round level.magnus wrote:Reading Boxing News this week, it seemed like every second fight in the UK was for a vacant (surprise) Masters Bronze title. Do they genuinely sell more tickets then mate? I think you're involved in promoting so will know more than me. If they do sell more tickets and the boxers get paid more then I'd feel a bit differently.

Well I’ve only done one promotion but helped out others with a few so not exactly a seasoned expert and its hard to quantify exactly what the increase in ticket sales are because of these title but it definitely gets you more attention in the local press and at this level it’s the local press you need attention from not the boxing press because its just locals that are buying tickets.magnus wrote:Do they genuinely sell more tickets then mate?
