I think Aden has actually convinced himself Wlad did no wrong and is a boxing master. He probably has him in the all-time heavyweight top ten. Why? Maybe because of his popularity!jamesmcdonnell wrote:Aden wrote:The heavyweight scene is bigger in Europe than at any point in history. Tickets were changing hands for astronomical prices in the run up to Saturday. It was a capacity crowd. The purse bid was in excess of 20 million dollars and didn't require PPV. Over 100 million watched the fight across Europe on free to air TV.Benelio wrote:Again I think you miss the point. Nobody is asking him to give up his advantages. What he is doing is cheating. Asking Bolt to hop is like asking him to ruin his chances by changing his amazing skill set. All we are doing is pointing out that Klitschko regularly employs not just a holding technique but a fully illegal manouvre of pulling his opponent in and down towards the canvas to negate any shots, rather than legally blocking, slipping, parrying, countering or..God forbid..using lateral movement to evade.
The only point I can agree with you on is that this is not soley Klitschko's fault. He will use this illegal scam so long as the officials allow it and he keeps winning. The Ref MUST be held accountable for allowing such a blatantly illegal move done with such regularity and without any shame. I still can't believe Povetkin's corner weren't screaming holy hell at the ref. I know we were while watching it. And officials of the governing body should highlight such a blatant illegal breach of the rules it in order to save the reputation of the HW world title as an event worth watching.
As I keep saying, people in the West (and by West I mean the UK and North America) should stop decrying the globally extremely popular Klitschkos and concentrate on producing guys who can put up a decent challenge to their supremacy.
so because of their popularity, nobody should complain that Wlad consistently cheated and was allowed to get away with it. I would do the same if any fighter flagrantly cheats and gets away with it, I don't give a toss how successful, how popular, or where they are based, there are rules, and unless the referee applies them correctly and consistently, then it makes a mockery of the sport.
Wlad might as well just incorporate kicks into his act, or ground and pound, since his apologists aren't going to be turned now whatever he does. And when the referee turns a blind eye and sees Wladdy through to the end Klitschko's detractors will still clearly just be jealous of his popularity and massive wealth.
