How on earth is that true? Pretty much everyone on this board views him as the second best in the world at super-middle behind Ward and his fight resume supports that view.

Because i regulary see his name crop up in top 10 P4P lists. I mean seriously, guys have Froch ahead of Manny Pacquiao, an 8-weight world title holder, meanwhile Froch has never even been #1 in his own division.

Froch is horrible overrated because he chin checked glass face Bute. Andrade already done it, just nobody knew about it.
There's people who have him aboe Rigondeaux who is a better boxer than Froch could ever dream of being.

Its like when you hear people talk about Barrera schooling Naz in a complete shut out, which is absolute bollocks. Dirrell getting robbed blind in Nottingham is the same. I thought Dirrell had an argument in a very close fight which could have gone either way.
I was at the Dirrell fight. I had a great view and can remember being disgusted with the decision.

Show me where people on this forum rate Froch above Pacman. You're making a blanket statement based on at the most a tiny minority, which is ridiculous.

Yeah. To be honest Pacquaio is an 8 weight world title holder but if you dig a little deeper and look at the way it was done or the opposition it was against in some cases, it's nowhere near as impressive as it looks.

And you have to also look at whether the current version of Pacquiao is better than the current version of Froch.

Exactly and at the moment, he is coming of a KTFO loss. P4P is about current active fighters, not an ATG list, which is why Froch is rightly ahead of Manny Pac (but behind on ATG). I think @Ricky is confusing himself

You can't be serious? Even if you have a problem with the 8th being at a catchweight for a vacant title, then fine, but there's no way to cut 8 weight champion < not even #1 in your own division.
As for the "current version"... again people can't be serious about this. Froch has never been technically skilled enough to make it anywhere near a p4p top 10, it's laughable.
Oh and he himself has declared himself 'p4p top 10' in several interviews since narrowly beating an over the hill Kessler and Yusaf Mack.

Thanks for proving my point Dan Ireland, as to how overrated Froch is. Ranking him above Pacquiao... my god. Considering Froch to be a better fighter than any version of Manny Pacquiao is laughable. I'm not even convinced Froch is betetr than the ''current'' version of Calzaghe.

You don't understand P4P, it's not an all time list. Manny was sparked and didn't get the nod vs Bradley and hasn't beat anyone of note for a while. Froch beat Kessler and Bute. Froch goes higher. If Manny takes out Rios and Bradley in a rematch, then he will climb higher.

Did Froch shag your nan? It's not an all time great list, it's current 'active' Pacman was KO'd, Froch had some good win, simples

So Pacquiao lost his last fight but Vasyl Lomachenko looked good winning on his debut. Does he rank higher?

Your logic is ridiculous. Maybe if Pacquiao was coming off Holyfield or RJJjnr type 'washed-up' losses. Anyone with a set of eyes can see he's far superior, p4p, than a run of the mill guy like Froch. He's average world level thanks to a good chin.

Froch is not 'average world level', he has beat plenty of world level guys. Stop being so offended by people thinking his current version might be up there with the current version of Pacquiao - it's really not that ridiculous a notion.

He's not riled Carl, Carl's just trying to sell the fight, which is going to be a formality.

Presume this is going to be a PPV fight?

I think you're insane. It's like Haye-Fury, which is pretty much a guaranteed win for Haye. Froch is going to murder Groves. If this fight wasn't happening, nobody would be considering Groves anywhere near ready, same as Fury. Now everyone's predicting the upset. But that's exactly what it'll be: an upset. Keep picking George everybody, because if the bookies read these sites to help set their odds, and I bet they do... I don't bet but if you get me some decent odds I'm going to lump some easy money on Froch.

Keep it coming. FROCH WILL FOLD! More of that sh*t, dude!

I think it's the way Pacquaio lost that drops him below a few I would easily rank him over it was just an UD/SD. He does have a far better resume than Carl, though, and with a good win against Rios I'd put him back over.

The person who thinks Rigondioux should be above him is mad, I agree that in terms of skill set Carl doesn't even come close to Rigo, but p4p is based on achievements not what you're capable of in the future.

I don't know. In his last fight with Marquez he was actually boxing better than I had seen him for a while, he looked really good. I'm not sure if getting caught cold like he did drops him further to me than say losing a convincing decision would. It was a great shot.

I agree completely with your second point.

Froch doesn't have a win in the same stratosphere as Donaire, so i don't see a way Carl can be above him in a p4p list.

No, but he has several wins that are better than the rest of Rigo's wins, I'm not ranking him over someone like Froch based on one great win, when Froch has several top wins.

@Ricky - do some research

It's not my notion it's how P4P works

Before the lucky Marquez MD, Pac's wins were Clottey, Margarito and Mosely, 3 guys who I doubt were in the top 10, even top 15 at the time. Froch has beat top 5 guy's and only lost to number one in previous years. It has nothing to do with how an armchair fans, like yourself, perceives someone's boxing ability, because then it would be based purely on opinion and not form, which is stupid

Dan not sure what you mean here - are you trying to say that Froch has beaten some top 5 P4P or top 5 in his weight class? If the latter, then surely Clottey, Marg and Mosley were top 10 in their weight class.

If you mean the former (Froch beaten some top 5 P4P guys).... who?

Kell Brook is the BoxRec World Pound For Pound number 19, Paquiao at 14 and Froch at 7.

Froch has never beaten a top 10 P4P fighter, Rigondeaux took Donaire apart. There's more to P4P than a fighter's record, ability has to be taken into account too, if Kell Brook fought Floyd Mayweather and lost a tight decision, there's an argument he should be top 10 because he came close to beating no 1, not like that would ever happen though. Froch is heavy handed, has a great chin, solid jab and is as tough as they come, but technically he's average and his defence is poor. Rigondeaux doesn't hit as hard or have as tough a chin, but his defence is brilliant along with his footwork, excellent hand speed and technique wise he's nigh on perfect.
